This is a nice, clean place right on the lake.
The owners are nice and well informed. They keep the property and the units very clean.
It is not fancy, but is a great place to stay in te Anau.

Didn't know what to expect but what a find! The owners were friendly and helpful. Fantastic unit with separate bedroom and good ktichen. Although the furniture decor and fittings were slightly out dated, they were spotless and we even had fresh flowers on the table when we got there! The views were great and we both managed to chill out and de stress for the 3 days we were there. it's so close to town and the tourist offices, it was easy to book Milford Sound etc. We would definately go back again, it was the best motel we stayed in during our month touring NZ
We were very pleased with the location and decor of our second floor unit. They offer complimentary internet if you have a laptop, complimentary washing machines and laundry soap, an ironing board and iron in the laundry room which is in a separate building out back. The dryer costs $3. They also provide a small bottle of milk, various teas, coffee and drinking chocolate. We were concerned it would be too warm in the bedroom without air conditioning but it cooled off nicely for sleeping and the bed was very comfortable. We had a lovely view from our shared balcony and the landscaping is beautiful.
We loved this motel! Campbell Autolodge offers everything you need for a comfortable stay, and all units look directly onto the lake. The rooms are enormous (by U.S. standards, at least)—they’re apartment style, so we had a large bedroom with a queen and twin beds, bathroom with a separate toilet, and a spacious living room area with kitchenette that had two burners, fridge and freezer (not just a freezer compartment), microwave, and plenty of kitchenware. They offer free wifi and local calls which is really nice, and they have on-site laundry. It’s an easy walk to the town center and a 5-minute drive to the Kepler Track.
The owners, Barry and Jenny, are really helpful, give good recommendations, and really do everything they can to make your stay comfortable--Barry even plucked some mint from their edible garden for me to use with dinner one night, and there were other details like that that made for a great stay.
We stayed here halfway through a 2 ½-week trip, and it was the perfect place to relax. A lot of people we knew stayed in town for just one night so they could easily see Milford or Doubtful Sounds; we stayed three nights and actually had time to sit on our patio and enjoy the lake view.
I agree totally with the other traveller's comments - spacious room, friendly hosts, good views and very clean.
With reference to a trip to Milford Sound, we were recommended to go early to arrive at Milford Sound for the 9 am cruise on the Ëxplorer" - the smallest of the boats which carries about 40 people and thus beat the coaches which arrive in droves at around noon. It was good advice and we had a fantastic day.
The building is a converted apartment complex so the rooms are very large and all have a lake view. Probably the best value of all our stays in NZ. Furnishings are a couple decades old, but everything is very clean and well kept.
