Stayed here just before Christmas for 2 nights. Hosts were great and welcomed by possibly the friendliest (and sleepiest) dog I've met in years. After travelling round NZ for about 10 days we stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The views from the lounge are superb and the hosts were excellent - even washed and ironed our clothes!
I didnt believe the reviews about the cake and fridge in the lounge but they are true. the breakfasts were great.
A lovely stay in a lovely country.

Hello!!

It was so nice to have you stay, it`s interesting to me how memorable each and every one of our guests are - we`ve spoken of you both since you left and hope you`ve had a fantastic rest of your journey!!

We pride ourselves on keeping life simple here. We love to provide our afternoon teas, and surprise guests with the little extras. We believe there should be no extra cost for anything when you arrive - it`s always delightful to see people`s reaction when they`re told the fridge is not a minibar and won`t be accompanied with a bill at the end of their stay!! The cakes never run out, the computer access and wifi in rooms is complimentary and unlimited, as is the laundry service, breakfast, transfers to and from town, the bikes, the muffins to take away after breakfast and the advice we love to give if requested.

We feel these little things make a huge difference, as there shouldn`t be anything on your mind here other than enjoying our beautiful property and the surrounding region. Thanks for recognising this and sharing your experience with others, it`s very much appreciated.

We`ll be sure to share Ben`s review with him when he wakes up :-)

We hope to see you again one day, lovely to have met you both on this journey!!

Best wishes from the Te Anau Lodge team :-)

We have just returned from a 6 week trip around the world, staying mainly in 5 star hotels and flying business class. However, the highlight of our trip was staying at Te Anau Lodge. It is a beautifully converted convent offering B&B - and the breakfasts are to die for. The staff are amazing and look after every possible need and are incredibly friendly and helpful. Anyone visiting Fiordland in the south island MUST stay at this unique place. There is much to do locally and the surrounding landscape is wonderful.

Room Tip: Choose Mother Superior's room. (The swimming pool is not terrible. There is no pool).

Hi Guys!!

It was delightful to meet you both, and to listen to your stories of your travels. It was lovely to spend this time with you on the balcony, and gave room to feel as though we were farewelling old friends at the time of your departure - as is the case with most of our guests :-)

We are so spoiled to live in such a beautiful part of the world - there`s not a day we take it for granted!! - which makes it so easy to promote the activities and pastimes we enjoy ourselves. It`s particularly rewarding to hear your stories when returning from your adventures to know that you`ve experienced the same connections to the Fiordland region that we feel ourselves as residents.

We trust the rest of your travels were fantastic, and truly hope we may see you again in the future sometime.

Sending you our best wishes,

Adam, George, and our lovely team here at Te Anau Lodge :-)

I can't believe this is ranked only 9th! We happened upon the place looking for a helicopter flight, and was met by George and a family of staff and dog who showed us tremendous hospitality. We had breakfast, were collected on the lawn, sat on the balcony with amazing views. It's hard to think there would be anywhere better in Te Anau and were so impressed we emailed our travel agent straight away. It knocked spots off our own accommodation, and the people and gene warmth we received from our hosts made it a very special part of our holiday. Thanks George

Hi guys!! How lovely of you to write such a happy review!! It was delightful to meet you both - and I`m so happy to hear that you took the helicopter flight!! How was it? Although I`m sure I know the answer to this already!! :-)

We`re a little uncertain how the rankings on Trip Advisor work to be honest, but we`d rather put time into showing you a wonderful time while you`re here, and hopefully word of mouth and reviews like yours help others find us to enjoy the same experience you`ve both had. We love this place, and the town we live in, so to be able to share a little of it with you while you`re visiting is really rewarding - far more than a computer listing ;-)

Looking forward to seeing you again sometime, let us know when you`re planning your next visit and we`ll make sure we have the room of your choice lined up - and maybe a De Havilland Dominie flight this time :-) Hope the farming is all well, and that the buzz I know you`ll both be feeling continues for months to come :-)

Take care, best regards from Adam, George and our lovely team here :-)

Te Anau Lodge is a converted convent moved to the current site and restored and decorated in lavish style. We stayed in the Mother Superior Room that offered lovely views into the garden. George is a charming host and ably assisted by Joanna, a sweet French exchange student. We also had a lively walk with Benny, the resident dog. There's a beautiful sitting room/library on the second floor, well stocked with refreshments, including wine. We really enjoyed our all too brief stay!

Room Tip: We loved the Mother Superior room!

Our two night stay was excellent, greeted by George, who explained how the convent was moved to Te Anau, he invited us to help ourselves to cakes and wine in the spacious library. Our room was spacious and comfy with a spa path.
George advised us of things to see during our stay and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants.
Breakfast fine in good company of fellow guets
