This was a very special experience.

The rooms are modern and tidy with an efficient kitchen. We cooked some breakfasts and dinners. The hosts were affable and helpful, making excellent recommendations. The property was rich with gardens, with many fragrant flowers in bloom everywhere. red, white and pink climbing roses, hydrangeas, astilbe, wisteria, and many unfamiliar ones, too. Outside our room was a curved wooden bridge and a fish pond with a waterfall. It was soothing to hear the water and many birds as we enjoyed our dinner. The optional cooked breakfast was beautifully presented and satisfying. Fresh cut flowers added to the welcoming atmosphere.

We recently spent three nights at Keikos and it was the best B+B we stayed in during our holiday in New Zealand. The site is beautifully laid out with each cottage enjoying privacy amongst beautiful flower gardens. Te Anau is a much more convenient base than Queenstown to visit Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound and many other local attractions. You are very close for Doubtful Sound and can be on the Milford road well before those travelling from Queenstown. Kevin's local knowledge also really helped us get the most of our time there - adjusting our schedule up to the last minute to reflect the weather forecast. And finally the option of the Japanese breakfasts and lunch that Keiko prepares - delicious and much better value than the lunches offered on theh various local day trips. We will definitely be back on our next visit down under!!

Room Tip: We saw all three cottages and each has their advantages

We stayed at Keiko's B&B for 3 nights. Kevin kept his eye on the local weather reports and booked us on Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound fiord cruises for best weather in each place. Both cruises were outstanding: following lots of rain there were hundreds of waterfalls cascading down the mountains into Doubtful Sound and the rain forests along the way, and the snowy peaks of Milford Sound were bright and clear for excellent photography. Keiko's Japanese touch and sense of beauty were everywhere - in the gardens and inside our cottage. Kevin came to pick us up when we arrived by Naked Bus, and drove us to the bus pick up point early in the morning when we departed Te Anau. Their place is within walking distance of "downtown" Te Anau (it's a very small town) and the picturesque lakeside. The breakfasts are included in the price and just about everything you might want to eat for breakfast is there in abundant measure. Kevin and Keiko are generous and gracious hosts, and by the time we left we felt we were saying goodbye to family. We usually stay in impersonal hotels, so staying at this B&B made us realise what we'd been missing out on. A glass of wine with Kevin and Keiko in their sitting-room and free wifi in our cottage were two of many bonuses offered by our hosts.

What can I say - Keiko's B&B was such a lovely place to stay! Located within an easy walking distance to the town centre, Keiko's has 3 cottages on offer. We recently visited Te Anau to walk the Kepler Track. We stayed one night at the B&B before the tramp, and it was great to know we had such a delightful place awaiting us when we finished the tramp. Surrounded by well planned gardens, flower beds, secret pathways and tranquil fish ponds, both cottages we stayed in were of an excellent standard, quiet, and very clean with good cooking facilities, each with their own private areas to relax! Safe off-street parking/Guest Laundry & Hot tub also available. Breakfast was served daily at a time that suited us, in the main house so you had the opportunity to meet other guests over breakfast, it was a brilliant spread that came included in the room rate. Classic continental with homemade preserves, cereal etc / Cooked with bacon, eggs, hasbrowns, or a Japanese breakfast! The hosts Keiko and Kevin went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and gave great advice with activities in the area, plus helpful information about the Kepler track.
This is definitely the only place we can stay next time we visit Te Anau! Their website does not do it justice! It will not disappoint :) Happy travelling!

Was travelling over New Zealand with Milford Sound one of my visits to be 'ticked-off'. Upon arriving at Milford i found my camera shutter wasn't working, and didn't have time to travel to Te Anau and back again to catch another boat, so decided to stop overnight in Te Anau and travel back that next day.

I happened across Keiko's purely by chance when looking for overnight accommodation near to the road i was travelling, and actually thought that it would be outwith my price range (such was the high standard of gardens, and appearance of the accommodation). However Kevin was extremely helpful, and we agreed a very reasonable rate for the night, with myself staying in one of the cottages.

The cottage itself was of a perfect size, very well equiped, extremely clean and comfortable with off street parking also.

As per the other reviews i have seen, the breakfast was excellent, with Kevin & Keiko being very likeable and sociable guests.

I am writing this review approx. 1 year after my stay, which demonstrates the regard i have for the service offered at this delightful B&B.

I do not hessitate in recommending this B&B for anyone planning to visit Te Anau / Milford.

Very comfortable stay with burbling Japanese garden outside the door. Host was a fountain of local information, and his advice that it was 2.5 hours to Milford was spot on....we stopped at every lay-by for frequent photographs, and didn't exceed 80 km/h at any point. Breakfast was excellent, with eggs and bacon on request, as well as the usual toasts, jam, yoghurt etc....brewed coffee too. Very clean with big warm bed. Keiko and Kevin were excellent hosts. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Keiko's. So much was special about our stay there. Keiko and Kevin are warm, helpful, and talented in many ways. Keiko's Japanese breakfast (in Fiordland of all places!) was truly a highlight of our vacation. Ah, the smoked trout... There were many small touches, too - like the NZ Geographic magazines in our cottage - which added to our enjoyment. Kevin booked us on a Milford Sound tour with a smaller operator, which was just right for us. We feel lucky to have stayed there.
