A busy place, with much more a pub than a restaurant feel. All a bit blokey - including waitresses in low-cut tops. Food-wise, roasts pretty good - in terms of quantity, quality and value (about $20 each midweek). Fish and chips steep at $36 in this setting. At that price I'd recommend the Redcliff or Keplers instead. Pavlova disappointing - meant to be a hallmark of NZ, distinctly underwhelming here. Service pretty good, beer and wine fine. All in all, ok, but nothing special.

Being the Easter school holidays Te Anau was a busy place. We had not booked so had to wait about 25 mins for a table to become free. We then had another 45 mins wait for our main courses of steak & lamb shank, both of which were delicious. Glad we had ordered some garlic bread to keep us going although this was nothing special. Staff & service were welcoming & attentive. Would certainly go back if we were in the area again & would recommend it to others. Book a table though in the season or at holidays time.

Very busy, popular restaurant. Book if your wanting to go at a busy time of year. Good size meals, tasty, good price (even with the easter surcharge) and attentive staff always on the move. Interesting set up with different floor levels but made for some fun people watching.

We popped in for a drink and a feed after a hike up Kepler track followed by a day sight seeing at Milford. Atmosphere was good as was the food. Staff were friendly. Good alround experience!

Our B&B recommended The Ranch for their Sunday roasts, apparently a local institution, but we ate on a Friday evening and still able to sit outside towards the end of March. Service was sharp and friendly and the menu good. My only complaint was that they had run out of blue cod, so no fish and chips on a Friday! My chosen alternative, steak, was perfectly cooked and tender and the choice of wine and beers good.
