“What a view!”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Stayed here for one night during our journey across South Island, on our way to the Seal Colony and Pancake Rocks. Very comfortable and clean self- contained cottage. Excellent facilities for cooking. Sufficient breakfast for a good start to the day. Amazing views of the sea and the coastline from the bedroom window. Very helpful and pleasant owners. Great recommendation to eat at the Star Tavern (just down the road) - log fire, good food, great company. Highly recommended.

Having travelled for 12 hours to arrive in Westport for the weekend, we found out when we arrived that we had to travel back for a family emergency. We found Pauline and Bruce not only incredibly friendly but also very understanding of our situation. It was lovely to arrive to the warm, well appointed cottage and although it was dark when we arrived and dark when we left in the morning it was easy to see there would have been a magnificent view. Their recommendation of eating at the local pub was very good as the food was probably the best pub food I have ever eaten. The bed was lovely and comfortable. We will definitely be back to sample what the area has to offer.

This place was everything advertised and more. Very comfortable and setting was amazing. Nice cliff walks nearby and Pauline's garden is spectacular. Best view in the area. Quiet--set back from the main house with no noisy neighbors. Equiped with everything we needed to spend two nights cooking our own food and enjoying the sunsets. You can't find anyplace better in the area.

Room Tip: Try to get the cottage in front as there is a second cottage behind that one with very little view...

Spacious, clean, every item you could think of to make a perfect stay. Very comfortable bed and a view out of this world. Can walk to the cape foulwind walkway and only 10 minutes from Westport and then can travel further up the coast.

Room Tip: Swimming pool in westport

A MUST STAY!!!
We arrived her while on a motorbike tour and we got a really warm welcome which was nice after a long day on the bike..
The studio was just what we needed and more..
We was invited by Pauline and Bruce to join them for drinks once we where settled then booked us a table at a restaurant near by..
The view from the deck was stunning..
We will be back to stay more than one night..

We had one of our best stays in New Zealand at this charming and well-appointed B&B. We stayed at the self-contained studio for 1 night and had everything we needed. It was appointed with a fridge, microwave, sink, dishes, cutlery, etc and fixings for continental breakfast. The gardens and sea views were magnificent. We had not pre-booked this stay, so it was an especially nice surprise to call for availability from the road and be rewarded with such lovely accommodations. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and even treated us to white bait fish fritters they had made for some friends that were visiting at the time. They also recommended a nearby restaurant where we had delicious fresh turbot. In the morning we visited the nearby seal colony and continued our trip from there. Our only regret was not being there long enough to enjoy this beautiful and relaxing location!

We stayed here for 2 nights, and would happily go back in the future. Read the other reviews for more info - but here are some tidbits. We stayed in the 'Cottage' - which I would definitely rate as a better option than the 'Studio'.

-There was a box of toys for our young girl to play with, and a friendly little Jack Russell who loved playing fetch.
-The WiFi internet was decent - a pleasant surprise for a relatively remote location.
-There was good phone coverage (Vodafone) there as well.
-The very friendly owners provide milk & juice, as well as breakfast cereals.
-There is a dishwasher.
-The lawn out the front of the cottage is great - a nice place to sit and watch the sunset & enjoy a glass of wine.
-To get down to the beach below the property (it's on a cliff-top) takes about 20 minutes.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the Cottage rather than the Studio.
