“Fantastic, awesome and just wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014

We camped at Barcoo's for a few days and as usual it was fantastic.... the facilities are just wonderful and the camp kitchen makes life so easy, especially with little kids. The farm activities are awesome and our kids get so much out of helping to feed and care for the animals.... it is just wonderful to see them having such a great time and learning so much about farm life. It is a fair dinkum Aussie farmstay with lovely genuine people, Farmer Ken and Elaine thank you for being such great hosts. We will be back again and again....

Room Tip: We have stayed in all the different units at Barcoo's and they are all very comfortable and clea...

We had a really amazing weekend at Barcoo’s Barn. Our kids experienced so many special ‘firsts’ such as holding a chick fresh out of its egg or riding high up on a draught horse and as a parent, it was great to watch their excitement. They couldn’t wait to get out the door every morning to see what activity they would do next! Thanks to both Elaine and Ken for making us all feel very welcome and comfortable. The visit completely superseded our expectations!

I read about Barcoos Barn on the internet and, as we were visiting friends in Bathurst, we decided to check it out for one night, to see whether it would be as suitable for our grandchildren, as the web-site suggested. We stayed three nights. The farm atmosphere, the genuine Aussie friendliness of the owners, the opportunities of participating in farm life, the peace and quiet of the surroundings, all contributed to an enjoyable stay for us. After seeing the opportunities for interaction with the farm animals, we will be returning in March, with our two 7 year old and 9 year old grandsons. They are going to absolutely love it.

Room Tip: We travel with our caravan and found it easily accessible, with everything we needed.

We stayed in the barn for 3 nights between Xmas and New Years and our 6 year old daughter Madeline hasn't stopped talking about the experience since we got home. This is a real working farm, run by a real (hard working) farming family, and if you're looking for a real hands on experience.....this is it. What really makes this place so special, apart from the animals, are the owners Elaine and Ken. Elaine clearly loves running the farm stay and has an enviable level of enthusiasm with the kids (and adults) every day. If you fancy getting back to nature, and getting your hands dirty (optional) then ditch the iPads and get down to Barcoo's. Your kids will love you for it!!

Room Tip: The barn is clean and spacious with plenty of room for a small or large family.

We stay here each time we travel to Bathurst as the animals and farm experience is exceptional for kids. Elaine is an excellent host and the accomodation is very comfortable. As we are a small group we stay in the Hillview unit.
Have some problems with hotel search websites saying Barcoos is booked out. This is usually an error, go directly to the Barcoos Barn website and give Elaine a call as she will let you know what is available as there are heaps of options including camping with good facilities.

But ultimately it's the farm animals and experience which is the best part, kids have plenty of entertainment on site without having to go elsewhere and spending more money.

Will continue to come here in the future.

Again give Elaine a call as when I went to book this year the booking sites said it was booked, but this is an error on the hotel sites.

We absolutely loved our time at Barcoos Barn! Elaine and Ken are such lovely hosts and gave our children an awesome memorable experience. For us it was part of our Starlight holiday on route to Dubbo Zoo, and our Farmstay was the highlight. Our Imogen reacted and enjoyed the animals so much. Elaine made sure Imogen got close to the animals, with lambs and dog Ruby on her lap. Our 8 year old daughter was involved in little farm chores and revelled in it and our 3 year old boy was in awe and keeps asking to go back to the farm. They of course loved their pony rides and leading Cody. They even got to drive the tractor with Farmer Ken. They were in heaven! And i was watching them! I couldn't stop smiling and taking photos. We went from feeding chooks and baby lambs all the while being surrounded by big friendly sheep and clysdale horses. It was a scene to behold! The accomodation was very comfortable too. We'll be going back!

Thank you for taking the time to write about your special visit to Barcoos. We were very blessed to have you visit us both on your way to & from Dubbo Zoo. And so very thankful that Imogen was able to get close & touch & smell our special animals. You are in our thoughts & prayers with the challenges you face in your life.

We are return visitors. Our kids love visiting and whether you camp or enjoy the comfy units, it's always a relaxing and fun stay. Elaine is great with kids (and inquisitive adults too!). Have recommended it to so many people :D
