So very outdated and desperately in need of a total refurbishment. Learnt a lesson from this experience to check rooms out prior to paying first as we thought with the price $120 (budget) especially for this time of the year and in the country. Price in NRMA booklet stated cheaper prices and we thought paying $120 this would have been the deluxe suite. Small room with only seating 2 chairs around an old laminated chipped fold down 60's table near only window for lighting on the back wall near the shower toilet. Turned out to be the worst motel we have experienced and worst sleep with the trucks on the highway and we were up the back.
Backtracking home to Sydney stopped at Bathurst at another motel and we got a "special $159 room for $107 with "Complimentary Continental Breakfast" in the restaurant. Positive clean with the owners sitting on a goldmine as it has so much potential with the grounds especially for groups and family bookings.

Room Tip: Inspect property first but good for families and kids to run around.

Located on what I thought was the outskirts of Bathurst is this old motel. Would have been great in the 70;s and has not had a refurb since then. Im guessing the bedspreads are from then too...
It was clean but old. Laminated fold down table and chairs from the same era. The bathroom was very clean but also very dated.
If we hadnt have paid prior to viewing the room, we would have moved on to find other accomodation.
I would not return, unless I couldnt find other accomodation in the same price point. Having said that it is only a 5 minute drive over to the Panorama.

We booked the Gold Panner looking for space for the (city) children and an affordable stay. We were pleasantly surprised by the cost in comparison to other local hotels. The friendly management team made booking a pleasure. The family rooms slept 2 adults and 3 children which is hard to find without booking 2 rooms (mostly 2 adults 2 kids per room). A very clean and practical room with comfy beds, it had all the necessities we needed. The surrounding landscape was very tidy and spacious with a children's playground, large pool and a wonderful covered BBQ are with a large amount of seating in a well lit clean area. I would not hesitate to stay here again when visiting Bathurst;o)

This would have been one of the top hotels when it was built, but decades have passed since... We stayed in a room which next to the bed had a small shelf covered with a crocheted curtain - it had a little opening on the outside through which the room service could pass you breakfast!!! Not sure if they have used it but they were keen to sell you breakfast as there was not a single plate in the room (even though they had a toaster and kettle). Hot water service had problems so on second day there was limited hot water, yet they offered nothing apart from letting us know).

The positives were good service, clean rooms and comfortable beds. We were also able to use the outdoor barbecue for our sport team which was great.

If you are looking for a low cost place to stay in Bathurst, with or without a family, the Gold Panner is a not a bad place to stop.

The basic accommodation is just that, basic, but the beds are comfy, in a quiet setting, and neat grounds.

They do offer executive accommodation, but the basic room was plenty if you just wanted a bed.

The rooms are adequate, albeit old, but they were clean, with tea and coffee facilities, large showers and a flat screen TV.

Given the expensive accommodation in Bathurst, $115 for the night was good value. A family run business. The office lady was lovely and happy to have a chat.

Room Tip: There is no shop close, so buy your milk before you get there.

This place has been on the side of the road for decades, and we stayed there for inexpensive accomodation for the very first (and probably the last) time over the Easter long weekend. The normal rooms were quite good - old, but clean, and in good condition. The family accomodation, which was in converted garages, I think, underneath the manager's (and his dog's) house, was older, and pretty dank. No circulation in either bathroom or toilet, and the main bed is on a slope on the floor, though the bedhead is level, and bolted to the wall. Cheap lights, cheap, second hand and ageing furniture. We got what we paid for, and there were no real suprises, other than a packet of chockies on easter morning at the front door - a nice touch.

The manager and his wife were very friendly, and my inlaws had no complaints. The cost was very good for the area, and season too - as I said, an honest place - but a little tired.

Room Tip: Avoid the family room - I would suggest the top of the hill, fathest from the drive, as it will be t...
