We spent four days in fascinating Broken Hill at the beginning of a five week trek through the Outback areas of Australia. We chose this property despite there being a myriad of motels in Broken Hill, because we wanted to live in a Miners Cottage with its atmospheric space and rooms. This particular cottage is within very easy reach by foot of Argent Street, the main street. It is cute in the extreme, without being twee at all, and supplies everything even the most critical guest could think of. Two double bedrooms at the front of the house sleep four (plus a baby in a cot if needed) and the bedding and mattress are great. A slight problem is that the windows need blackout curtains instead of blinds as the property opposite has a flashing neon light which, in the pitch dark of a Broken Hill night, can become irritating. The lounge and dining rooms with their wooden floors and incredibly comfy lounge are terrific as is the kitchen. The bathroom/toilet needs a wall or ceiling heater of some sort as the draught from outside make the experience of miners' days only too real in the middle of winter. A small back yard, free laundry with supplied detergent and the ability to bring your car securely within the property completes the picture. Free wifi was an appreciated extra. It is also pet friendly which seemed a friendly addition. It is also pram and wheel chair friendly. This is a first class stay and anything negative I mention is nit picking. A wonderful stay in a remarkable town where there is so much to do and enjoy. Well done to the owners of this property - we will return.
