Once again an amazing lunch backed up with smiley, friendly, intuitive outstanding service.
It's without a doubt the best place to dine in Newcastle. Be it lunch, dinner or just a relaxing place to have a drink with a gorgeous view of the Harbour. We started with Sydney Rock oysters Kilpatrick, which are always my favorite. Mum had Confit Duck with roasted figs, potatoes, speck, onions & a rosemary Jus OMG, and I had Caesar Salad which I haven't tried a better one yet, absolutely delicious.
THANKYOU to the Gorgeous Liz who looked after us & the One & only Gabrielle who made us the most fabulous picolo late & frangelico affagato. We will be returning very soon.

“A sunny lunch with sea views”
Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

The Customs House is an elegant heritage building on Newcastle's foreshore. It is also a great place for a meal. We had lunch there on a sunny Sunday and it was buzzing with people inside and out. The service was cheerful and efficient and our bistro style meals were well presented and reasonably priced. This is an excellent venue and a real asset for Newcastle.

Thank you Michael P for understanding Customs House so well - we have great & affordable bistro-style food in a beautiful building overlooking a stunning location (Newcastle Harbour & Foreshore). It isn't too hard, you would think....

“Warm and welcome on a wet Newcastle night”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

The Custom House is a great place to visit at any time, but as a warm sanctuary on a wet Newcastle Friday night it was a blessing. The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent - we had the duck pate and steaks. The pate could well have been the best we have ever had and the steaks were thick and cooked to perfection, fully recommend this hotel to anyone in the area.

“very poor service”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

We expected a fine dinning experience from this restaurant. the water glasses were dirty with lipstick marks all over them! I ordered confit duck and asked them to remove the pork from it and it seems they already had the vegies cooked with pork, so I could feel the taste all over it, they just removed it by hand.. the food was nothing special, the service was terrible.. never again

“Good "pub grub" with chilled out atmosphere”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

If you're after a relaxed place to chill out & get a decent value for money feed, then this is the place. Nothing fancy just good wholesome counter meals.
