I had the best meal ever at Customs House last week. Started with the Char Grilled King Prawns followed by the Confit of Duck and then to complete my meal (which I must say I didn't need as I was so full) I had the best ever Sticky Date Pudding. Every course was served to perfection. Well done to all the team at Customs House. This is certainly a restaurant that you need to dine at.

We really enjoyed the ambiance of this historic building on the foreshore on a Friday evening prior to dinner. Relaxing against soft cushions we enjoyed a glass of red wine and soaked up the atmosphere. The waitress brought us a complementary plate of pate, terrine and crackers which was a wonderful surprise and thoroughly enjoyed with the wine.

Our Fantastico Friday afternoons are our favourite time as everyone is in a great mood with the weekend starting - what could be better than complimentary starters, live soloist on the Verandah and $5 Cocktails. In the colder months we also offer mulled wine!

I took the family here for the $10 lunch steaks. The kids had the kids calamari which they could easily share it was so big (good value), I had a couple and was surprised that they were well cooked especially for a kids meal. The steaks were well cooked (medium) and the green peppercorn sauce was good with only a few peppercorns. Staff were friendly and fast. The building is fantastic, large well laid out and not crammed in like so many other restaurants. The only improvement I could suggest would be to put signs up at the front and side to say the ramp for prams/wheelchairs is around the back in the car park (had to send Grandpa on a recon mission) glad they had one.

Had lunch at the Customs House with my wife, position is great, the views of the harbour and passing parade are great, the food is equally great. Staff were good, however they tend to get a little inattentive, which may well have been because of numbers. Overall, a very good restaurant with open air dining, but would be cold in the winter months. Well recommended though.

I see that some reviewers are disappointed as it was not the "fine dining experience" they expected. Well, in my opinion this place screams out that it is not an upper class restaurant, but basically a decent pub in a historic building!

You want atmosphere, choice of beverages, fantastic great value pub meals cooked to perfection and with a classy twist, then this is your place. I also liked the fact that they scored 5 stars for kitchen cleanliness.

I'll be back ;)
