wonderful weekend at the Novotel Newcastle for our wedding anniversary.
the staff were amazing and sorted us out promptly and the room was awesome and had a lovely view of the ocean.
only a 300m walk from the station and 50m to the beach the location was perfect

ate dinner in the restaurant on the first night and the waitress was friendly without being intrusive.
dinner was superb, we had bread rolls, a main each and shared a serve of veggies and followed it all up with dessert.

total food bill after our A+ discount was $67- for the two of us.

all in all this was a lovely time together for our 30th

xxx

Room Tip: there is no swimming pool at this hotel because the beach is so close. there is a spa and a very wel...

This was my first time staying at the Novotel Newcastle Beach - and every time I have to go to Newcastle from now on, this will be the only hotel I will stay at.

The hotel is fairly new, and is in a complex with a few restaurants/cafes. The beach is just across the road.

The room I had was well furnished and really nice, clean and modern without being over the top. The bathroom was spacious and had a lovely shower.

Room service menu - as I travel a lot for work it is always hard trying to watch what you eat but when staying at this hotel, they have a lighter choice menu and the dinner I had was fantastic.

There is street parking but they are in time zones, but you can park downstairs at the hotel for a fee.

Great service aswell by the staff!

I stayed for four nights on a company conference package. The hotel is relatively new and design is contemporary. Rooms were well fitted, a little small by Novotel standards for a couple but fine for a single on business. Many rooms have an ocean view - or glimpse. The bedding is excellent. Bathroom is good, and follows current Australian practice with small bathrooms that eliminate the (useless) narrow shower/bath in favour of a commodious shower. Water temperature was good but shower pressure average. Amenities were standard Novotel. The conference rooms were well appointed with good AV facilities. Air conditioning in thus hotel is fantastic.
The meeting chairs are excruciatingly uncomfortable, perhaps designed to keep attendees awake, albeit in a state of agony.

Morning and afternoon teas were average (warm or weak coffee) and the snack food was acceptable, but this of course depends on the company menu selection.

The BBQ area is in a public courtyard and has zero atmosphere. The BBQ meal provided was sub-standard. The steak was served in a Bain-Marie and was like leather to slice and equally tasteless. No mustard or tomato sauce condiments were provided, and I would have to rate this as one of the worst hotel BBQs imaginable. If I ran a conference in Newcastle, I would choose another venue for a night under the stars. Food at lunch and breakfasts was average at best.
Service was very good, and staff were generally courteous and attentive. With limited housekeeping staff, we didn't have a room refresh until 1 pm, but that is normal for 4 star Australian business hotels.
WiFi is available in rooms and public areas but we found speeds were often slow and downloads problematic.

Dear Etheldog,
Thank you for your detailed review following your conference last week, it is always important to hear the good and the negative comments so we can continue to improve.

I have shared your comments regarding the BBQ with our Executive Chef and he is very disappointed, he is reviewing the cuts of meat used and also portion to avoid future problems and improve overall quality. We are also reviewing checklists as the condiments should have been on the buffet and must have been missed, we do apologise for the oversight.

We appreciate you taking the time to review Novotel Newcastle Beach and we hope that you will return in the future to stay with us again.
Kind Regards
Simon Glover

We spent one night at the hotel. It was easy to find, parking was available the staff professional but friendly. The room felt spacious and was very clean. Noise does travel up from the bar/restaurant on street level. I had called several weeks ago to enquire about parking and was told there was onsite parking but not advised there was a fee. On checkout yesterday I was surprised to see a parking fee however there was no issue removing it from the invoice.

We decided to go away for a weekend and Newcastle was the furthest we were able to fly to without changing aircraft. The airport is some 30 km outside of town so take a shuttle bus rather than a taxi. It is an interesting hotel - really just a small corner of a large apartment block. The rooms were quite large and the bathroom was huge! We were well looked after and the food was excellent, with great service whenever needed. I can thoroughly recommend their Berkshire Braised Pork Belly.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the beach
