We stayed for just one night and it was great for the money.
The fold out bed for our 2 yo was perfect, although the clock and phone within reach of the childs bed probably not well thought out. The room was very clean and well stocked.
The area can be a bit noisy and we couldn't seem to close the window properly.
The staff were great, very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was not very good and we completely missed the espresso machine and had nescafe instead, Yuk!

Room Tip: I would ask to be away from the road

I stay at the IBIS Newcastle two or three time per year when visiting Newcastle for work. It is not pretending to be 4/5 star but I always find the standard good. The staff are consistently helpful and professional. My room this time was clean (as always) and while the room and bathroom are small the layout is adequate for a single person or couple. This is a budget hotel and it consistently meets my expectations. Breakfast is good and evening meals are available or there are lots of other eating choices nearby. Paid parking is available on the grounds.

I have stayed at other Ibis hotels and is one of the worst. The room was tiny, with a plastic cubic bathroom. It smelt like mould and the leaky old air conditioner was noisy and stinky. The hotel was more backpacker budget not 3 star it was promoted as. The staff were lonely but friendly. We didn't eat there and were warned off by other guests in the lift anyway. Terrible hotel unless you are paying $50 and have no sense of smell stay away.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review about your recent stay in Newcastle.
I am sorry that your stay with us wasn't to your satisfaction and would like to express my
sincerest apologies.

We do appreciate your comments in regards to the smell and feel of the rooms and we will investigate if changes can be made to enhance the quality. In regards to the Air-con units
we are in the process of updating all units in our guest rooms to further improve on our services offered. If you do require accommodation in the near future in Newcastle, Accor offers alternatives with the Novotel Newcastle Beach with an even more centralized location and bigger guest rooms.

Again thank you for your comments and feedback.

The price was the best thing. The beds were a little hard and it is a small room, with the tiniest bathroom ever. Air con worked but sounded like a jet engine. The corridor was not air conditioned (or maybe it was broken) and it was a hot day, so it was very stuffy. Bit of a walk to main hunter mall, but not far from the train (make sure you get in the last carriages of the train though!).
