I didn't expect to be in Newcastle and booked in at the Ibis on Hunter St for 3 nights. I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel, the staff and the surroundings.
Check-in was easy and the staff were very friendly and able to show some nearby restaurants to my taste as well as recommend some local attractions and point them out on a map. The room itself was small and compact, but well laid out with a funny looking capsule bathroom. To be honest it made me feel a little seasick inside the bathroom but it was well organised and helped get the most out of the space available.
The bar has a happy hour (or two) at 5pm which is good, and the food is also of good quality. I had breakfast most mornings. Monday morning was made to order while Tuesday and Wednesday were small buffet style.
Overall I had a better than expected stay.
