A friend and I were visiting Newcastle for the weekend so we needed accommodation for two nights. We chose the Ibis because of the chain name and location to a train station and city. We were able to walk to places at night with relative ease and found the stay enjoyable. We had a ground floor room so of a night could hear the streams of people walking from nightclubs, which could lead to feeling a bit unsafe but the hotel was set back from the street and we felt relatively safe.

Was an overnight stay with the family after a wedding, we booked 2 rooms to accommodate the 5 of us, rate included breakfast. Both rooms were very clean, very good beds an linen, considering we were basically in the heart of Newcastle the rate was much better then staying in one of the outer lying motels, it was a long weekend, football night and $119.00 per room with breakfast.

As compact as what the bathroom is, the shower is a good size with double glass doors, for those who have cruised, the room and bathroom are basically the same size as a cruise ship plying the pacific islands.

When we checked in there was a queue of young guys with bags of alcohol checking in, they were all given the "act" and were all quite and and we did not hear any noise from any other room in the hotel.

Breakfast was passable, the standard fare toast, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juices, a small hot selection, what let is down was there was actually no hot food when we got to the small resturant area, the cook would keep and eye open on the people then bring our small amount of egg, bacon, sausage, baked beans, but when more people arrived, if they were at the serving area they would get the food before you could get back to the area. In the end we had to keep on asking for hot food and then either waiting or rushing up to get any of the hot offerings. The hot beverage machine was causing issues, the bar staff had not issue in making hot chocolates and coffees for those that asked from the Barista Machine behind the bar.

Will stay at the Ibis Newcastle again.

I really enjoyed my stay at Ibis Newcastle, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful (much better than a few places I have stayed lately in Sydney) and the room was neat and clean. I had breakfast included and it was really nice, unfortunately I had a very early flight on my second morning so missed out on a second one! The price was excellent!

The room was adequate for me but the bathroom was quite small so I am not sure if I would have been as happy if my husband was staying also. The only other (small) negative thing was that I bought some icecream to have in my room and found that there were no spoons available - just coffee stirrers. A teaspoon in the room would not have gone astray. I could have gone down to the reception to get one, but by that time I had already put my pajama's on.
