Booked a Queen suite room overlooking the water.Very nice bathroom and oh so comfortable sleep. The view is worth the extra money. Food delivered to room was done to perfection.
All staff we encountered were as friendly as!

Only gripe would be the parking situation, there is no onsite parking, there is a parking station across the road or on street parking or the hotel's Valet parking at $29.We parked on the street and saved $29 which made our yummy room service dinner with a view $29 cheaper!
The street has meters but parking till 9AM is free.

Enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: 3rd floor facing the water

Thank you LandHBrisbane - next time you will have to stay for longer than one night!

I am glad that you enjoyed your room service experience, staff service and of course - the view. As a CBD hotel, parking is limited, which is why we offer the secure valet service. Of course, as you found, there is the street parking not too far from the hotel.

We look forward to seeing you next time!

Staff were plesant and helful. The lobby area didnt dissapoint although once you enter the suite it is quite aged and average by all means. The best thing in the room has to be the comfort of the bed. The cleaners are lovely and very helpful. My biggest concern is the extra cost (not light either) for th use of anything extra other than the bed! $20 for a movie.. really?? $10 for supposedly free inrernet? I mean you can get free wifi in Newcastle city but you have to pay at the Crowne :-/And to park your car was very expensive or highway robbery if you ask me.
Unfortunately the motel has alot to answer for for supposedly being the best motel in Newcastle...youd think the extra comforts would be included in the room fee.

Thank you for your review Jarvis K,

We understand that people who travel want choice - which is why, rather than having higher room rates that have all inclusions ( ie. breakfast, parking, internet, movies), we have lower 'room only' rates with these features as options.

Internet is complimentary for all guests in the lounge area of the hotel, or standard internet is free in guest rooms for our IHG Rewards members, which is our free loyalty program.

I am glad that you found our cleaners helpful and friendly - we are here to help you enjoy your stay. Next time, please call reception if you have any enquiries, such as the internet, and we will help you straight away.

We stayed for 4 nights in a city view room. Very comfortable, spacious and clean.
Within easy walking distance to cafés, restaurants and shops. Only downfall I would point out is the parking. $29 a day is a bit expensive. Across the road is a public car park for $9 all day.

Thank you for your review Penny B,

It's wonderful that you were able to join us for a few nights, to make the most of Newcastle and our wonderful location! I am glad that you enjoyed your spacious room. The valet parking is the secure parking service that we offer, but as you point out there is an outdoor public option that is also available.

We look forward to seeing you next time,

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in January. We got a king suite room with a patio and views of the harbour. The room was decent, but it was all about the view. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was nice and quiet. The pool is also quite nice at this hotel, before the kids show up. The Crowne Plaza is in a good location in the harbour, which is walking distance to Darby street and the restaurants near the harbour. We would return.

Thank you very much for your review!

The view from a top floor King Spa suite does tend to be the 'star' of the stay. Our hotel is indeed busy during school holidays, but I'm sure that you will find a weekend visit during the year to be very relaxing.

We will see you then!

Recently stayed for one night and have stayed previously for a couple of nights. Rooms are looking a little tired and the cleanliness of our bathroom was not perfect. We had a spa suite and I have to say it's the most difficult bath/shower I have ever had to get in or out of- seemed it could be quote dangerous for an elderly person. Lots of hanging on to safety rails to get in or out. Poorly designed it seems to simply fit a spa bath in. More attention should have been paid when they built it. Otherwise staff all seemed pleasant and eager to please. Wine selection both in rooms and the restaurant is very very average. Location is great and staff are nice so we would probably be back unless somewhere better in Newcastle pops up.

Thank you for your review and feedback,

As a loyal guest who has used our property multiple times, your feedback is of utmost importance to us. Please accept my apologies that the cleanliness of your bathroom is not up to the standard we uphold. We do have rooms that have a walk in shower configuration which may be better suited to your room preferences - please call the hotel direct next time you book and we can organise this for you. As you say, we are eager to please!

I am pleased to let you know that we are updating our wine list in the very near future, so during your next stay you can enjoy a different selection of wine in our restaurant.

Valet parking , lovely . Greeted warmly on arrival & check in was smooth . After a very long walk along the endless corridor we got to our room which was spacious , clean & very comfortable . Kitchen area , lounge with TV & separate bedroom with second TV . The bed & pillows were some of the most comfortable we have experienced . Room service for dinner was ok & breakfast in the restaurant was excellent .

Room Tip: ask for one close to the lift , thats what we will be doing next time .

Thank you tripmothernsw,

Good idea, asking for a room close to the lift if you don't want a long walk! The rooms further away have a view more to the Nobby's Beach end of the harbour, but it is indeed a trade off.

We strive to exceed your expectations in all areas of your stay, and it's wonderful to see your positive comments of the service, valet, breakfast and comfort of the room.

I spent a week here just before Christmas 2013 and can't say enough good about the place. First, the staff was superb--front desk, restaurant, concierage...everyone. The rooms were great--mine ovelooked the harbor and some of the large ships going by were truly impressive--felt almost like I could jump onboard. In the morning got to watch the crew shells going back and forth--very relaxing place. Only downside was my room door. Without a firm tug--it would not close. Wi-fi service was good, if expensive. The hotel is right on the "boardwalk" and you can easily walk to restaurants, bars and shopping areas.

Room Tip: Easy--ask for a high floor on the harborside....
