It's about time this listing was updated, but this newly refurbished club is very good with a great bistro, nice bars and a good cafe.

i went to the panthers in newcastle to try their $10 menu for lunch. what a selection from roast to calamari chicken schnitzel and good old fish and chips. great staff as well. i couldn't believe the size of the meal, it was huge on a 10 inch plate. yes my friends a 10inch plate. none of this cutting back on meal sizes by putting it on a much smaller plate and still charging $10. this club is definitely looking after their customers. price does count & trust me so does size. but above all else quality, boy does this club deliver. the salad was nice and fresh with honey mustard dressing a schnitzel cooked just right and not burnt or overdone.a good serving of chips. you would have to go a long way to beat this club where service and customer satisfaction is their no 1 priority. the food was so dam good I'm making the trip back tomorrow to feel like a customer that counts. definitely 5 star.

We were walking through Newcastle looking for somewhere to have lunch. We checked several hotels and then came across the old Workers Club. Went in and checked the lunchtime specials. Wife had lamb shank and I Chicken Schnitzel. We couldn't have wished for better food. Wife said it was the best lamb shank she had eaten and my schnitzel was superb. Biggest salad I have seen with the schnitz. As we were on our usual budget caravan trip, we advise everyone to visit the Workees if your looking for a nice cheap meal. Another great venue on this trip.

We were attending a travel expo held at the Panthers Club and decided to have lunch downstairs at the club bistro. The bistro is neat and basically presented. The menu is typical of many club bistro offerings and the prices were very affordable. You join the queue to make and pay for your order and then wait for your meal to be ready and picked up from the counter or delivered by staff if they are available. Seating and tables are typical basic club furniture. Practical, serviceable and reasonably comfortable. The bar is nearby for those seeking to have an affordable beverage with their meal. The club décor is deplorable and shabby and what was a once proud premier club of Newcastle is in our view, a dive. Because of the large patronage on this day, bistro service was understandably slow. When they did arrive our meals were ample in size and presentation and of acceptable quality. With many excellent clubs, pubs and eateries to pick from in Newcastle, Panthers Newcastle is not likely to be on our future choice list.

We decided on this establishment as it had previously been recomended by friends. we wernt sorry.
The meals were of generous size and very good quality.
Again it was school holidays but the place can easily handle a couple of hundred diners as they seemed to the evening we were there,
the food was excellent but the servings were way to much for us to handle, I prob sent half back to the kitchen, even though I had not eaten that day at all.
The staff were excellent & the ambience though modern enough could do with a few changes.
We also loved the poker machines and filled our pockets with with several hundred dollars..
