so we needed to stay somewhere for the long weekend public holiday around 5-7th oct as I had one of my bodybuilding comps on. after no luck finding a hotel or apartment due to last minute searching and due to public holiday we finally found the junction hotel. me and my fiancée were never a fan of staying at pub/ bar accommodation due to most been run down or pretty scummy looking. after staying at the junction hotel due to last resort we take back what we say. this place has been fully renovated and our room had state of the art features, really enjoyed the rooftop shower head, felt like a waterfall. we arrived there early as I had my weigh in that I had to attend in the morning and it was too early for check in, so decided to offer my fiancée some lunch downstairs. what can we say, best Caesar salad she ever had, and trust me she is extremely picky. by 12pm, Anthony one of the managers there had got a room ready for us so I could finally get my feet off the ground and lie down due to my comp been the next day. form there on it was full steam ahead at the junction, room was impressive, room service only a phone call away and served food to our room without hassles. there is also a courtyard down the corridor of the room with seating and smoking area, this was a must for my fiancée and found I incredibly convenient.

then came along Lucas, another manager. finally put a face on him as he was the one who took my booking and got me so comfortable to really want to be there. Lucas thank you so much for everything you did to make our experience so comfortable, even allowed to use the cool room in kitchen to store my bodybuilding meals, and also could cook up anything I required which was a bonus and a feature I believe is very hard to come by even at a five star hotel.

overall, the room, staff and experience really came close to our laid back trip over in Fiji amunuca island. couldn't get any better than that apart the beach front bure but we cant have everything. lol. for $119 per night during public holiday was a bargain and will we ever go again? hell yeah, next time we are in Newcastle it will definitely be the junction hotel. also, there is quite a few restaurant/cafes surrounding the junction hotel, we enjoyed lotus as we had an awesome bug breakfast and you really need to try a strong chocolate milkshake. became a delight for me after my comp.

thanks again guys and you will expect tony and Athena once again in the near future. keep it up.

I visited this trendy pub last night for a friend's birthday celebration. My vegetarian lasagne was delicious, the service was good and the wine realllly good!! One of the reasons we chose this venue was because they advertised live entertainment... we were expecting a band but they had a DJ who just played music and we ended leaving to go elsewhere for the band. Excellent pub food venue. Found the atmosphere more vibrant on a previous visit but overall we had a great dining experience here.

Best of everything is a pub in Newcastle. The food, wine and beer selection is excellent. But bring back the breakfasts.

We came up from Sydney to take Dad out for Father's Day lunch. He chose The Junction Hotel and we thought, oh not a pub, but this place has to be on the list of 'must visit places' in Newcastle. The decor is slick and trendy, loved the electric opening glass roof and the glass floor panel above the cellar. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and so attentive. We met Anthony, the restaurant manager and he recommended the rib steak for Dad and we had the Share Plate and a selection of the tapas...absolutely delicious. You can tell that the staff just love working here and proudly showed off the brand new accommodation rooms upstairs, WOW...stunning. We're coming back to stay.
I can see why Dad picked this place for lunch. Well done to everyone involved with this Newcastle pub.
