“Ultimate Service”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

My girlfriend and I were booked to stay at Denmar Estate for a couple of nights in April, but when we arrived discovered that, through no one's fault, there had been an awful mix-up and our villa already had occupants. Marie was so accommodating though, and arranged for us to stay at the close-by North Lodge Cottages, at a much reduced rate. (These were lovely, and I have also reviewed them by the way).
During our stay Marie also personally drove us to restaurant Botanica, in the area, and picked us up when we were ready, despite it being a public holiday and at night. She arranged for us to have a wine tasting and canapes at Denmar, all of which were delicious, and provided us with breakfast each morning. In short, the level of service was incredible, and we wish we could have actually stayed at Denmar. We'll be back in the future.

P.s. I strongly recommend their Cab Sauv, an excellent drop.

We decided to have a spot of lunch in the hunter valley and stumbled upon Denmar Estate. Such beautiful vista's, and a warm welcome. The food and wine was lovely, and it was such a great price too, I felt like ordering twice.

We didn't manage to stay but I really wanted to write a review for the restaurant but that part isn't listed in trip advisor.

It was our one year anniversary and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.
Short version: Stay at denmar if you want a perfect and great priced room; you won't regret it!
Long version: We arrived in a hurry to go to a restaurant and found that when we arrived at spicers, denmar had organized a bottle of wine and some extra special small hors deurves to add to the meal!
Then dennis and marie both waited up for us to get back at 10:30 and offered us a private wine tasting with a bottle of wine to take back to our room.
When we finally finished drinking and chatting, we arrived at the cottage which was immaculate and beautiful and already lit up for us. It is set back a small distance from the reception area and everything is soundproofed.
The room had everything you could have wanted for a romantic weekend away, including tealight candles, a fire place, and a spa bath which is all new and kept in perfect condition.
The next morning we woke up and cooked the bacon, eggs, freshly hand picked tomatoes and mushrooms, bakery fresh bread, orange juice and premium grade espresso blend coffee which was all of the highest quality (and quite a decent amount too!).
We started guiding ourselves around the winery when dennis came along to give us a quick rundown as to how everything works and a few small pointers as to where to go and what to look for in the winery.
As for the rest of our time spent, every time we left the cottage we couldn't wait to get back and to be honest we really didn't want to give the keys back! Overall we can't give just a rating because it was such a perfect weekend thanks to dennis and marie.
We will definitely be back again!

We rented both Villa's for the weekend of the Lovedale lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Dennis and Marie are wonderful hosts and had thought of everything, including a bottle of their own fabulous wine on arrival, as well as ingredients for a full breakfast everyday of our stay, cheese plate and chocolates!

Their attention to detail meant we had everything we needed to be self sufficient for the whole 4 days and the log burning fire was a wondeful, cosy addition in the evenings.

Dennis also gave a tour of their estate which was fascinating and worth doing!

I will be recommending Denmar to all my friends so don't miss out on this little gem!

From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome with a taste of the estates wines at their cellar door.

The villa was even better than we could imagine. It was a nice size with two large bedrooms and equally large ensuite bathrooms. The living area is large with a well equiped kitchen, dining table and lounges. There's even a log fire should you stay in the colder months for cosiness. The verandah is perfectly placed with a view over the vineyard and the surrounding hills. It is perfect to sit out whilst enjoying the fruits of the hunter valley. There's even a barbeque to use if you want to eat at the villa.

What was a lovely surprise was that the fridge was well stocked with a cheese platter, milk and everything you need for a full cooked breakfast for our stay.

Dennis and Marie were the perfect hosts, with fantastic facitities. They really had thought of everything to make our stay wonderful. There were so many little touches which made the stay more special. Their hospitality sets a high bench mark that will be hard to beat.

A perfect destination to stay in the heart of the Pokolbin vineyards, with lovely friendly hosts, made that little more magical with a great tour of the vineyard with Dennis. We will be staying here again on our next visit to Hunter.

I must also mention the restaurant Botanica which was recommended by Dennis and Marie just down road - must to experience.

It was a unique experience to bs able to stay on grounds on Denmar Vineyard. We arrived late on Friday evening, and Marie was there to greet us at the door, and we soon departed to our lovely modern retreat to sit out on the verandah to enjoy our selected wines and home made cheese platter. The accomodation was fantastic, with open plan living area and two lovely bedrooms both with en suites and a great verandah too. Our fridge was stocks with fresh bread, juice and all you need for a full cooked breakfast. Staying in the muddle of the boutique wine region was fantastic. Denmar passed on recommendations for great wineries and restaurants - it was fantastic to have a access to a little knowledge - especially Botanica restaurant. We enjoyed a beautiful three course meal there. We finished off our weekend with a wine tour by Denmar Estate owner Dennis, who is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about wine. And we found ourselves back in the cellar door with the lovely Marie for some final wine tastings and wine purchases. Will we be back? Definitely! Thank you Marie and Denis
