We had a really lovely stay here, staff were lovely place clean and welcoming. Lovely bottle of bubbly and chocolates on arrival.I don't know where purds5 stayed as it was the exact opposite I was a bit apprehensive after reading that review but no need, it was a very pleasent few days we had, would definately recommend it, and will go back in the future
Chris B.

Room Tip: We had a downstairs room, lovely to sit outside at night overlooking the vineyards

We stayed 4 nights and only wish it had been longer.

What a welcome surprise with the chocolates and wine provided - free of charge. Beautiful touch.

We were using a CUDO voucher so it was also a very cost effective stay.

This (Trip Advisor) is a great site but like us you may feel a little put off by some of the comments below. But don't be, go and see for yourself.

I thought I should bring some of the comments below out into the sunshine.
* the sheep do not butt (but like a tickle under the chin),
* flies don't get in the rooms (if you close the ample fly screens),
* there is no need for a receptionist (all the details we required were well displayed and a
'phone # advised if required,
* noise of frogs (lovely atmosphere and shows the environment is pristine),
* spiders? (didn't spot one even after we looked!),
* pillows uncomfortable (pity we weren't there at the same time as you could have had a
couple of our 6 spares!)
* Cold! (that is what the spare blankets were for.)
* Shabby establishment? This is a working farm set in an ideal countryside.

There was ample parking close to the villa with generous well maintained grass, outdoor furniture to lounge around in and gardens surrounding the pool. BBQ facilities, daily papers, walks, free coffee machine, soft drinks and nibbles via an 'honour box', WiFi in bedrooms, selection of heaps of DVDs and a small library. What more could you want ~ othere than more time there.

I would not recommend this shabby establishment for a visit to the Hunter Valley. It has the potential to be a lovely venue but the lack of attention to detail and basic cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired.

The management of Villa Provence must be unaware of their competition in the area to continue to offer such this service. Sorry we cannot recommend this to anyone.

Contrary to some other reviews, we loved our stay at Villa Provence and can't wait to go back. Jo was extremely helpful over the phone explaining that the one bedroom suites were fully booked and would we like a studio - we found the Merlot room very private and just perfect for two nights. She also recommended good local restaurants. Our name was clearly marked on arrival and the room found easily. It was clean and contained lovely tea's and champagne and chocolates. Sitting by the pool on the glorious days we had was beautiful and peaceful as there was no-one else around. There was a good complimentary DVD and book collection. Villa Provence is not meant to be 5 star but more than met our expectations and will definitely go back.

Stayed one night at villa Provence. Room was comfortable, warm and clean. We got a great price for the room on last minute.con.au. Each night had one discounted rate. When in Polkobin you must go to "Taste of the Country" near Hunter Valley Gardens for breakfast. Fabulous breakfast, can't rate it highly enough.

This was our third trip to Villa Provence, we love it. The location, the views, the big rooms and the friendly staff all make for a perfect stay

Not sure why other people have complained about not getting breakfast, they offer a number of packages, some with and some without it. We always go for the champagne and chocolates deal then start our day at one of our favourite breakfasts spots either Cafe Enzo an Petersons Champagne House.

The manager is great she always goes out of her way to make our stay special. She's not always in reception but can be found cleaning rooms or working in the garden or in her house right next to reception. One quick phone call and she's always right with us if we need her. On our last trip (my wife's birthday) she drove to maitland to get flowers for my wife (the local florist was closed) and organised the most perfect fireside dinner. She even drove us back to the restaurant the next morning to get our car (we caught a taxi back as we drank more than we planned). We even saw her jump starting someones car - so I don't know how you could say the service is lacking!

We will Definately be back, the price is great compared to so many other hunter valley hotels, the views and ambience are perfect - we live the fuzzy chops and sheep, it's just perfect!

This was likely once the very height of a Hunter B&B experience. Now just "B" (not sure what happened to the "breakfast delivered to our room" promised on our very well priced Internet "deal"), it is tired and worn, with decor reminiscent of 70's roadside motels. Having said this, it was warm, clean (no spiders spotted in our room) and comfortable enough. Little things - Sparkling wine from Peterson's, Lindt chocolates, plunger coffee in-room, L'Occitane bathroom products, free wi-fi Internet access - all meant however that the stay was made a little "special".

With a location in the very heart of things we would go back! It is a very acceptable bolt-hole when the primary purpose of a visit to the Hunter is to be out-and-about sampling all that is on offer in food and wine.
