We arrived quite late for our stay and there was a note on the front desk to say our key was just on the table in our room. The rooms are a decent size but not overly clean. There is cutlery and glasses provided, but they were dirty so needed a good wash which was strange as there is a note advising of a 30 dollar wash up fee if you leave dirty stuff.

Sleep quality was very good and the building is a nice southern French style villa. We'll be going back in summer to spend some time next to the pool in between vineyard visits.

Room Tip: Don't move the furniture if you don't want to see the dead caterpillars

Having been in tuscany last year drinking in the wonderful feeling of history, we were drawn to the facade of the quintessential french villa scene in the photos.
And the price was right.
Unfortunately we were immediately disappointed at the less than sharp attention to detail in the room and public areas.
Clearly mainly a re-paint and a good clean is required 'everywhere', however the location was very pleasant.
Seems like the property is run by the same people who run the 'long house' which seems equally at odds as the longhouse rates very highly.??
We were fortunate to have the Champagne suite which we thought was by far the best as it overlooked the vineyards, pool and bush.on 3 sides
The room suffered from water damage to the interior paintwork above the doors facing the pool and the screen doors caught on the weather overhang whichmade it 'not perfect'.
Cracked cornices which were ugly showing the dark crack running around the rooms ceilings had developed due to the water issue caused by the overhang outside.
Added to that, were tiny cob webs with caught bugs- all around the ceiling cornices.
Spare blankets and an electric blanket were thrown into the cupboard !?.
bed was hard but acceptable and did not appear to be wornout.
Believe it or not we enjoyed our stay but can say (having hospitality and building experience between us) that with a serious effort on the owners/ managers part (paint, minor repairs and proper cleaning) - they could have an outstanding property very quickly without huge expense.
The rose gardens and dilapidated roman columns gave the place a form of authenticity.
My wife was taken by the slightly dilapidated feel of our accommodation in Florence, Italy; and kept reminding me that Villa Provence was similar- I had to reminded her that our accom in Florence was 500 yrs old!

Room Tip: get one on the first lvl as everyone walks by the ground level ones.. Champage seems like the pick i...

We booked two mid-week nights at the Villa Provence on a voucher deal so it was very cheap. The accommodation is in the heart of Polkobin - close to the major wineries, restaurants and pub. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates a nice touch. The setting is good and the owners are friendly and helpful. The only criticism is that noise carries from other rooms, not a problem confined to this venue. Certainly good value for money for what we paid.

Left Villa Provence this morning. We used a voucher which made the accomodation an absolute bargain! It was peaceful, in a beautiful location and very private. The scenery was gorgeous at sunrise and we seriously couldn't ask for more. In a great location for the Hunter. Excellent breakfast at Cafe Enzo was an added bonus. We changed our dates a few times and Jo was fantastic and very flexible, which we really appreciated! Yes, we have stayed a more glamorous places but we've paid 3 to 4 times the price too. Lovely for a few days. Thank you.

Me and the wife had this voucher for a 2 night stay at Villa Provence. Our dates were changed around a bit so we went there with a bit of trepidation. But it was all for nothing. The young man at the reception was very polite and a gentleman. He carried my wife's luggage up to the room. Where in Oz do you find such gentlemen among the younger generation? We were impressed. Didn't see him after that. The location was superb.. like a villa in Tuscany. It had a lovely pool which we enjoyed the next day. Its located within 5 mins drive of the wineries in Hunter valley. Both sides of the room had good views. They had quite a contemporary collection of Dvd's and they were 'Free.' There was free Cappuccino which we enjoyed. When we were leaving, there was a woman at the reception who didn't acknowledge us.... no thanks, come again.. nothing. But, we had a lovely time and the property is worth a visit. Ideal for romantics, with a small pond and ducks ):

After reading some reviews, I was not keen on going... however after spending 2 nights there I am ready to go again! Jo is an amazing hostess and the place, yes its old, but it is clean and tidy and comfortable. Book yourself a few days away and enjoy the peace and quiet and the company of kangaroos, chickens and ducks!

Room Tip: we stayed in the "merlot" studio room and would do so again

Spent four nights at Villa Provence which is set among trees near the vineyards off the main beaten track. It is a very peaceful spot to be able to relax. Jo the manager is really lovely and pleasant. She runs the property on her own. It is not a four or five star rating but the peace and quiet make up for what is lacking. It has a very rustic atmosphere. There are cobwebs, roaming ducks, a rooster, a little rabbit and two sheep in the pen. It is a large property which seems to be always full of guests. It's a quaint place to stay. It has lovely comfortable bed and pillows for a good night's sleep. The rooms are large self-contained one bedroom, lounge-TV room, bathroom and kitchenette. We had two balconies overlooking the pool and gardens.

Room Tip: Don't choose upstairs if you have bad joints because there are 16 stairs but the view is good on...
