Nothing special. In fact, very ordinary.
Expensive for what it was, a very run of the mill breakfast. Maybe we were late, but it was a bit light on for the price.
Maybe they'd ran out of the decent bread... one slice of plastic bag bread toasted dry... blech...
BUT, the coffee was decent, served as ordered. Rated up one for that. And the staff (but for one sullen little troll) were very friendly. Sack the little sour-puss, and you'll be better off. I'm not the only patron to have noticed this, by the way!
As we were leaving a musician was setting up, so maybe they WERE rushing to get ready for the next round.
I won't go on. The winner wasn't Oscar's as far as we're concerned.
Take your guests elsewhere for brunch.

“OSCARS - takeaway roadkill at restaurant prices”
Reviewed 14 June 2011

Tourist traps like this make me sad for tourists. We stopped off for a casual lunch on the Queens birthday weekend and couldn't believe the poor quality of the food and what they were charging. Sandwiches for $14 comprised off 2 really thick pieces of bread with very little filling. The pizza had ingredients straight out of a can, and cost about $30. It was totally flavourless. They clearly view the weekend crowd as a way to make quick money.
The following day we tried The Smeelly Cheese shop across the road.. excellent sandwiches and pizzas for the half the price of this Oscars.. i know where to go next time I visit the Hunter Valley...

“Great Food and Great Service”
Reviewed 28 September 2010

We were looking for a relaxing spot to have breakfast. I wanted scrambled eggs with a side of mushrooms, which was not on the menu at Oscars. When we asked the staff if this was possible, they responded that they would fix whatever we felt like. The food was also excellent with great coffee. The atmosphere in the cafe was also very relaxed. It would have been easy to sit three all morning drinking coffee.
