“Xmas Corporate Party 2011 - Brilliant location, service and friendliness!”
Reviewed 3 January 2012

This is such a great place to hold a team event, bring a family group(s) for the weekend or a romantic getaway. We had such a great time, we now wish to make this an annual event!

Thank you to all the staff (especially Casey) for making our Xmas team Party such a brilliant success. Your friendliness and willingness to go that extra mile in making our event memorable was very much appreciated. The two bed villas were immaculate, the guys all enjoyed their game of golf - the course was superb, the girls felt very pampered at The Golden Door, and the children all loved the swimming pool. Nothing was too much trouble for you, so once again a big thank you for being as committed as we were to enjoying ourselves! So much to do in the resort and surrounding area; golf, pampering, pool for the kids, fantastic restaurants, and winerys, in the region.

Room Tip: Whilst the rooms are spread out, there is a complimentary shuttle bus which picks you up and takes y...

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback – we’re so glad that every aspect was met to your expectation and satisfaction. Cypress Lakes still has the Hunters widest variety of versatile conference, function, meeting and exhibition rooms – to cater for events of all shapes and sizes! Its been a very busy time for our C&E team with many different events happening on-site, and it’s great to hear that we were able to go the extra mile and make your event a resounding success...your feedback has been passed on to the staff and Kasey, thank you for the acknowledgement. Sounds like you made the most of all the pre and post activities located at the Resort, it’s definitely a drawcard for event organisers, their delegates and travelling partners. Like you mention though, it’s just as great for an event as it is for a family weekend or romantic escape! Thanks again for your response and we look forward to seeing you back in 2012.

Our family of four stayed at the 2 bedroom apartment on Dec11. Spacious, good bedding configuration but in a huge need for a renovation and a pest control. Since we arrived we were welcomed by at leat 10 spiders in less than an hour. I realised that the were spider webs in the room so we decided to spray everywhere we could. Despite our pest control efforts the spiders keep appearing.
The need for refurbishment will be a fantastic idea and the yearly pest control. Not a pleasant stay due to the dirty and smelly couch and spiders comiung to stay for the weekend!
The breakfast and room service was very good and that was the only outstanding feature of this resort. Won't come back again.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us some feedback. We’re happy to hear that you found your villa spacious and comfortable. Refurbishment to parts of the main Resort, as well as to the Villas, is currently underway and happening in stages – as you can imagine for a resort of this size it’s a big task that unfortunately cannot happen overnight. Feedback has been extremely positive from guests who have had an opportunity to stay in a refurbished Villa, and we look forward to when all our guests can enjoy the exciting changes and upgrades to furnishings etc.
My sincere apologies for a ‘dirty, smelly couch’, our bedding and upholstered furniture is regularly and professionally cleaned. Although we conduct inspections of the Villas to ensure everything is in order, we hope you raised this issue with our helpful staff during your stay or upon check-out, as evidently it had a very negative impact on your overall experience with us.
Villas are surrounded by mature gardens and native bushland, and the recent wet weather (and lots of it!) has contributed to greater numbers of spiders and insects looking for dry shelter. Unfortunately this is beyond our control, and although Villas are progressively attended to on a fortnightly basis by a professional pest control team, there are instances where they’ll slip under the cracks and find their way inside. Dangerous spiders/insects are rare, however it is ‘nature’ and they are out there, so I would like to remind any guests that if they come across any ‘dangerous’ pests to please not attempt to deal with the situation themselves, but alert reception staff so it can be attended to.
We do have a show Villa on-site for viewing which showcases our refurbishment direction, if you are ever in the area please stop by and check it out, it would be great to get your thoughts on our refurbishment ideas.

Hi Golfers
Eleven mates and I went up to Cypress for a game of golf last Sunday to celebrate beautiful Roys 60th B day. Well what a great day we had. The course was in really good condition. The staff were really friendly the breakfast was really great with heaps of variety. The only fault I could find was the greens were not one hundred percent but I’m sure they will get them back to their best in coming weeks. We had so much fun we will be going back in a couple of weeks.

Firstly Happy 60th Birthday! We’re very happy to hear that "Drinkys Old Boys" had a great time on the course, and at the newly designed Bodega Restaurant & Bar. I imagine our golf greens were still recovering from the Jack Newton Celebrity Classic event, but there’s certainly been some great feedback of late about the improved conditions out there! Thanks for taking the time to pass on the positive feedback – our staff really appreciate it. We look forward to seeing you back in a few weeks time.

We recently visited this resort and stayed in a gorgeous 2 bedroom villa complete with 3 bathrooms, full kitchen and balcony. The location is right in the heart of the Hunter but is situated on such a large property that you feel a world away. Great for a romantic escape! The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant onsite did a fantastic seafood & meat platter and all staff were helpful and friendly. Good value and will return!

Third third time staying here for business functions. Arrived to find our villa piled high outside with the last occupants dishes & linen at front door waiting for collection. These were collected by noisy yelling housekeeping staff about an hour later. Not a good look. Villas are spacious & bathrooms Ok but not luxurious. 2 Bathrooms but only one hairdryer, no bath plug, leaking shower frame etc. Towels were very thin & need quick replacement. The resort is spread over many acres & you really need to jump into your car to get to the main area. Self catered so bring own alcohol etc. Not enough glasses for 4 people. The tea/coffee station is extremely basic quality. Bed & pillows very comfortable but mattress cover covered in large yellow stains!
Breakfast & dinner quite good. Hate that the main pool is right in front of the restaurant so never use it. I would not stay here for a romantic weekend etc, but it is Ok for a base to discover the region from. Main hotel staff very pleasant.

Thank you for taking the time to post these comments. Of course your comments will assist in our current platform for improvement. Let's take each issue as written, Firstly, your arrival presentation is not what we hope for you to encounter and I apologise for this being your first impression. Of course with a spread out Resort we do operate on a buggy system to collect past guests items left behind but this is normally done prior to the new guests arrival. In regards to your villa's equipment, based on this feedback and as part of our refurbishment we have increased our stock of glassware, etc in the villa's to ensure there is more than you need so that if you wish to invite a visitor to your private villa and balcony you can invite them for drinks without the worry of asking for additional equipment. This has been a real bonus over the summer and I have already noticed a big difference in these being available. I was embarrassed about the Mattress cover you noted and I apologise if it was stained, however all our bedding is cleaned professional and will in no way still be dirty when on the beds. I was surprised about the transportation around the Resort via your car after three visits I would have thought that the shuttle service operated by the Resort would be part of your stay now, similarly I was surprised you don't like the pool location. Given its outlook to the golf course and central location it's a popular hot spot for all our guests, even the shy ones.
Of course again great to hear about the staff - thank you.

Looks like a lot of people feel the same way about this place. Honestly, I went for the Golf & thank goodness I was only there for 2 days playing golf most the day. I wanted to get out of there, the room was disappointing, VERY UNCLEAN, the whole resort (if you could call it that) was rundown, unappealing, and cobwebs everywhere. The one positive point which I do commend them for is the Staff. Always friendly & especially the Golf Shop staff.
Im sorry but I will not stay here again.

I am always disappointed when a review like this hit's TP feed. I always encourage guests to share their impressions during their stay no matter how small, each item mentioned to the staff can improve our performance and the guests stay going forward. I don't expect our guests to stay in an unclean villa and this can be resolved promptly with some information at the time. Our Resort - Yes, under some renovation which we have mentioned previously on this site and this does take time and we do like to ensure it is with minimal guest disruption.
It is always a pleasure to hear about our staff and how helpful they are. We are very furtunate to have a wonderful group of people working with us. The golf course has enjoyed some wonderful rain leading up to the summer period and is looking like lush and green so I am glad this guest enjoyed their two days of golf.

We stayed for 3 days in mid November and were very disappointed with this so called resort. The standard of maintenance and cleanliness were well below expectations and smacks of an Hotel operation in financial difficulties. The food and beverage operation did not fare much better either and why the Pokies? They must have the worst electronic Door locking system on the planet.( Mr Ving Card, u need to fix this pdq!) I thought it grossly overpriced and had we known previously of other accommodation options in the immediate area we would have taken advantage of those. Staff were willing but again when continually faced with a high level of guest dissatisfaction, morale and esprit de corps disappears rapidly.

As previously mentioned in this TP feed for Cypress Lakes Resort, there are some exciting changes happening around the resort with investments been made to update various facilities including our villas, restaurant, pool areas and the general grounds. What might ‘smack of an operation in financial difficulties’ is in fact some general wear and tear of an established resort that has called the Hunter Valley home since 1996. We are not the new kid on the block and its time some upgrades were made, and it is progressively happening – but unfortunately renovations cannot all happen overnight, especially at the biggest resort in the area. We look forward to making some exciting announcements to the general public and our loyal guests in the New Year!
In reply to the specific concerns of the above guest, Bodega Restaurant & Bar is currently under renovations with a launch planned in January, in the meantime we’ve insured minimal disruptions by renovating the restaurant in stages, so as not to close the entire restaurant, our guests can still enjoy the varied menu on offer while we put the finishing touches in place! Our new Executive Chef is busy planning the menu for 2012, still featuring fresh local produce wherever possible, and perfectly accompanied with the selection of wines available at Bodega’s renowned cellar.
Whilst on holidays some people enjoy relaxing by the pool, others enjoy a cold beer and a game in the Pokie room, at Cypress Lakes we like to ensure all tastes are catered for.
It is understandable that this guest would assume that staff is ‘continually faced with a high level of guest dissatisfaction’ given the not so favourable TP reviews of late, however in reality this just isn’t the case. We have many guests that enjoy their time and the facilities Cypress Lakes Resort has to offer, with many of these guests converting to happy return visitors. Unfortunately the reality is that people are often quick to share their disappointment online but a little slower to share their satisfaction – however our front office staff certainly appreciates the smiles and positive feedback on check out! We hope these happy visitors share their good stories online too...
