Stayed on a mid-week deal and loved it. Normally ultra modern accommodation is my thing but this old world charm and great service was most welcome. Would go there again - not sure if I would pay full rates though!

Room Tip: Top floor - facing to the rear was nice.

Myself and my partner just spent the weekend here for my birthday. Overall I thought the hotel was very quaint and nice, fantastic location. However due to my comments below I would not rate it as 5* indulgence and I would not pay $300+ p/n on the weekend with a minimal 2 night stay. When we arrived there was no water available unless we brought it from the mini bar which was $5 a bottle. We specifically chose a hotel that offered room service as we knew we would be arriving late on the Friday evening, there was very minimal choice available - soup or a toasted sandwich. The outdoor pool was filthy and the outdoor spa was "out of order", considering it is Spring I thought this was really disappointing. There was only 1 person managing breakfast each morning and there were no coffee cups, I had to go looking for the waitress to get a mug. The room was described as "deluxe" which was actually a fairly small room, we had a balcony which was shared with 2 other rooms and our bathroom and bedroom window looked out onto this shared balcony. The TV remote did not work and the "on demand" movies did not exist. The Spa is described as being "on-site" - in fact it is at their sister hotel about 6km's away! We also booked a horse and carriage wine tour through Peppers (they recommended this tour to us as they work in affiliation with each other), the first winery they took us to was the one on-site at our hotel!! Overall, disappointing for the price you pay.

I had booked Peppers Convent via livingsocial and wondering what it would turn out to be. What a positive surprise! The service was extremely friendly, nothing was too much for them! As it was our wedding anniversary, I requested a few extras (flowers, upgrade to superior room, special instructions on bed sheets...) all done do perfection and "with pleasure". They also booked a massage for us, as well as a table at nearby Roberts Restaurant (see separate review). Our superior room was lovely in an old fashioned way (very clean and comfortable), quite spacious (easily fits 4 people), with a timber decked balcony overlooking the vineyard. The hotel itself is quietly located at the end of a long driveway connecting to Roberts restaurant and Tower Wines. With a personal and friendly service like this I would definitively recommend it to friends!

The hotel has all the potential of providing a wonderful experience, but somehow did not quite succeed. TV remote in room did not work. Staff were friendly and polite, and the breakfast was great. Rooms were large and comfortable, and bathrooms were fitting for a period piece. Not sure if I will give it another try though.

Room Tip: Room overlooking the entrance seemed to be the best. Check that everything works in the room

Great place to stay and beautifully restored. Even though it was fully booked, it was really quiet and peaceful. Staff were very relaxed, helpful and friendly.

Accommodation in the Hunter Valley is expensive, and this is on par with others in the area. If you're expecting the same as what $400 a night in Sydney gets you, you'll be dissappointed.

We bought our accommodation through a living social deal and was charged for a "Large and comfy queen size bed, extra deep bath and personal verandah". The bed was comfy but was only double and the verandah was shared with 2 other rooms. Only personal if you didn't walk past anyone elses room and they didnt walk past yours.Apart from that ,we had a most enjoyable stay.
The staff were friendly . The room was tcompact but clean and well kept . There was plunger coffee instead of instant. The surroundings were picturesque and the breakfast was superb! The evening canapes were a nice touch .
We had a fabulous meal at "Roberts" (the reason we booked to stay at the covent) which was within walking distance.

The building is amazing. It's a bit noisy with it's squeaky floors and ceeking doors but that just adds to it's charms. It's definitely worth paying a bit extra and getting a delux room. The view from the balcony is amazing and it's just a beautiful place.
