We stayed here one night with three friends to visit the Hunter Valley Garden Christmas lights.
All three rooms were different - two rooms in the West Wing and one in The Manor House. The rooms were appointed with king size beds, new bathrooms and large flat screen TVs. The rooms had a balcony off them and overlooked the Hunter Valley. We dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfasts which was enjoyable. Food portions were excellent.
Would definitely stay here again.

Kirkton Park is a delightful place to stay. Situated in the middle of the picturesque Hunter Valley it is serene, peaceful, and full of old colonial charm.

The rooms are comfortable but could do with some good renos. The beds are too small as are the bathrooms. The indoor pool, spa and Gym are fantastic but the spa is frequently out of action. The restaurant serves quite nice meals although breakfast in the verandah room is a challenge as there are usually large flies swooping onto the buffet. The grounds are tranquil in line with the surrounding countryside. For surroundings it is tops - the comfort factor could do with some improvement

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the long Balcony overlooking the valley

This is a very pleasant hotel on a large property, with views over the lower Hunter Valley. The rooms are comfortable and well designed, with the bathroom having both bath and separate shower.

When we checked in, we requested a dinner reservation and were told that a large party had a reservation for 7 pm. Both the receptionist and the chef (who happened by) advised us to arrive before this party to be sure of good service, so we booked for 6:30.

There was a small but pleasant bar for a pre-dinner drink. The meal was good quality, with excellent service.

In the morning, breakfast was a good buffet that included hot items such as bacon, poached eggs, has browns, and baked beans; as well as fruit and cereals. Plenty of morning papers to read with breakfast.

There is free wifi in the rooms and public areas, with adequate access speed.

The only negative point is the 1.5% charge for paying by credit card. I don't think that the management of this chain of hotels understands the resentment that many people have about such a charge. On our stay, this charge raised an extra $6 of revenue, so it hardly seems worth annoying the guests.

This property is truly serene and relaxing. Gardens are well kept with beautiful roses surrounding a fountain in the courtyard.. Idyllic. The odd rabbit kept us amused as we watched them chew on the grass and bob around the lawn. Rural scenery is what you look onto with cattle grazing in the fields. Location is excellent, not far to drive to most of the wineries. Breakfast and dinner was good. I would stay again and strongly recommend this hotel. Whilst there was a function it had no impact on our stay. Housekeeping a little inconsistant with amenities.
