Decided I needed a pamper weekend so I booked into the Sebel. I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was very comfortable, with bath, robes, very nice tasteful furniture. The vineyards are close by and the service and amenities at the Sebel were just what I needed. Dinner on the balcony overlooking a beautiful rose garden with fountain. My room had a balcony with sweeping views of the Hunter Valley wineries. Heated pool and gym, I couldn't ask for more. Overall a great escape.

We stayed here for a couple of nights while spending time exploring the Hunter Valley as a couple. Because we booked our room through a last-minute mystery deal I'm not sure what our room type was called but it was the basic one, with a king bed (2 singles together), arm chair, and desk. It had a mini bar under a bench for coffee making and small cupboard with 2 dressing gowns. It was quite compact and had a small bathroom with shower/toilet. The bathroom echoed a lot and had a pedestal sink which means not a lot of space to put your toiletries (especially make up etc). The room had excellent block-out curtains which meant no annoying sun in the eyes of a morning. Everything was well presented and clean and there is a veranda that runs the length of the buildings that all of the rooms open on to. The grounds are very pretty (they host a lot of events) and the staff were helpful and polite. The pool was lovely and great that it was inside out of the elements so you could take advantage of it all year round.

I did have a few issues with the room though. There was an adjoining door to the room next to us that was locked but it meant that it wasn't very sound-proofed between the rooms. For example, the guest next door got a business call early in the morning and we could clearly hear every word about the contract that he needed to have signed by Thursday. So especially when the bathroom echoed so much we were very conscious of disturbing others or even the content of our conversations being heard. There are hardwood floors throughout so you can hear every step also. The same went for if the people around us were sitting out on the veranda talking, you could hear the conversations very clearly.

In the room was the noisiest bar fridge I've ever encountered, I had to turn it off to sleep as it was so loud. Normally that kind of ambient noise doesn't bother me but it was SO loud. We went up to the lounge area one night and found it rather disappointing - as it was summer they obviously did not have a fire on so that left a television, some newspapers, a chess board and pianola for entertainment. No cards or other games and there was no instructions on how to actually use the pianola.

The hotel offers free wifi but although I could "connect" to it I could not actually access anything at all on my phone or my laptop. Our first morning the hairdryer in the room blew up so we called reception to see if we could get another one. We were getting ready to go out and ended up having to wait about 45 minutes for the maintenance man which was a bit frustrating when we were just wanting to leave. He was very helpful and ended up bringing us a replacement hair dryer for the next day as by then my hair was well and truly already dried flat to my head!

Overall our stay was comfortable enough but I have stayed at better places for the price in the Hunter Valley.

We spent just one night here over the Christmas period. Rooms were great, we had two in the Manor House and breakfast was included. Great value for money, we booked direct on the Accor website. Love the outlook of the rooms, lovely vista over the valley. Would suggest some more comfortable chairs and enough for each room would be appreciated on the balcony to sit back with a drink and enjoy the view. Some other room types seem to have them, so hopefully they will be added soon. Kids had a great time in the pool and used the tennis court. We have stayed here before many years ago and would certainly visit again. Well located to all Hunter Valley attractions and has a homely feel to the whole property.

My whole experience at the Sebel Kirkton was wonderful. I have never met staff who are so kind and accommodating while still maintaining complete professionalism. The food was magnificent. The view was absolutely stunning. They even had cruelty free bath and shower products. I was extremely impressed and will absolutely stay here again.

We stayed here one night with three friends to visit the Hunter Valley Garden Christmas lights.
All three rooms were different - two rooms in the West Wing and one in The Manor House. The rooms were appointed with king size beds, new bathrooms and large flat screen TVs. The rooms had a balcony off them and overlooked the Hunter Valley. We dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfasts which was enjoyable. Food portions were excellent.
Would definitely stay here again.
