I never write reviews because I have never stayed in a place that was worthy of my time until now. Tower Lodge is without question the best Relais & Chateaux property I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in a few. The Lodge is just magnificant not only in the rooms and amenities but the service as well, you just dont get service like this these days. I have to mention as a highlight was the exceptional personalised service we received from the Maitre de Maison (the GM) Andreas. His personal touches from the hand written welcome card, the limousine service to the restaurant and back and predinner drinks in the lounge room were way beyond what I ever expected to receive. Even though it is the most expensive place in the Hunter Valley it is however the best value for money hotel I have ever stayed in. We ate at Nine restaurant and we had a private dining experience near the golf course, both experiences were just amazing, you just have to try it if you stay there. I cant score it anything less then full marks.

You simply cannot go wrong w this property. Its gorgeous decor, relaxing atmosphere, attention to detail, elegance, emphasis on romance & outstanding personal service had us look into extending our trip. The free delicious daily breakfast tasted even better when we realized that even menu items were free!! The property's manager needs to teach a course in Hotel Management to every hotel manager in the world. This man is on top of every detail & gives each guest a personal welcome. He even invited us to join him for wine one evening. I cannot say enough great things about this property!

Unbelievable.

My husband and I stayed here last weekend for our anniversary and we were totally blown away with the entire experience. The best weekend of our lives.

We can't believe that this place is not better known and on Getaway and Great Outdoors all the time.

We arrived early evening and was greeted by the general manager who ran us quickly but most infomatively the ins and outs of the Lodge.

We then were in our totally mind blowing accommodation. These are not hotel rooms. they are massive villa's with raised bed area and a lounge space as well as a wonderful veranah. We had landed in heaven. What a bathroom. Massive.

At the suggestion of the girl at the front desk when we booked, we had dinner arranged for their little restaurant called Nine for the Friday night and well known Roberts for the Saturday evening.

We got to Nine which is a quaint little place under the lodge in the cellar and my husband and I cannot remember ever having a better meal and experience. It was a set degustation with match wines and it has to be the new benchmark for resaurants in Australia. The menu is a book full of information about the Hunter Valley and also menu's as well we got to keep it.

The following morning we had an awesome breakky and lovely day wine tasting (they even have their own winery) and lunching, and on our return there is the general manager welcoming us back by name and arranging our transfer to Roberts for dinner.

So off to a shower and back for some pre-dinner drinks and then driven to Roberts which is only a few minutes walk, but we were spoilt with a trip in the car.

Dinner at Roberts was exceptional as was the service and ambiance. It has to be one of the most romantic places in the world.

We walked back to the lodge and decided that we would stay Sunday night as well and wish we were still there now.

We can't get back to Tower Lodge in the winter to experience the fire places and the winter experience.

10/10

We can't fault the place.

We arrived at the Lodge to be greeted by the general manager at the door, which was a big suprise. The rooms are just fantastic and the staff were very good, they were friendly but not over familiar with you. We dined in the new restaurant "Nine"... WOW, this beats the pants off Tetsuyas any day. All in all this is now my favourite place to stay in Australia.

A group of us stayed at Tower Lodge for the weekend whilst attending a Wedding in the vineyards.

Firstly, I would have to say that in comparison to other accommodation houses in Pokolbin, Tower isn't too bad. The problem we had however was that whilst it might be twice as good as most 4 to 41/2 star properties, its actually 4 and 5 times more expensive.

We are used to paying fairly considerable money for good accommodation etc, and believe that if Tower wants to operate at this upper level, it must offer more. Better service, more attention to detail, a higher level of refurbishment, most of the furniture is reproduction faux European and the buildings are pretty tacky hacienda style design.

Basically Tower Lodge needs to start providing value for money. There are countless examples of this when you stay, especially when it comes to the wine list. We estimated that some of the wines were in fact marked up by 800%, which just leaves a bad taste in your mouth, no pun intended.

In closing, for what you pay you can get a suite at a real 5 star lodge in New Zealand or the Nappa Valley and be in Heaven. For us at least, Tower falls short and is just pretending to be like so many other world renown lodges that really get it right.

This was our fourth trip back to the Tower as we just love it and a special one, our 20th wedding anniversary. Each room is very different and it was our second stay in the Oriental Room which was fabulous ... again.
Lots of little touches make this a fabulous getaway ... things like your room being serviced whilst you are at breakfast, so when you walk back in, it is beautiful AGAIN. The staff are very friendly and happy to oblige and breakfasts were beautiful.
My only peeve was that between 5 and 7pm you are invited to pre dinner drinks and canapes in the lounge. We have previously been to this and each had 2 or 3 drinks, which we didn't consider alot in 2 hours. Now however, your first drink is complimentary and after that you pay $10 for a g&t. I guess some may have abused the previous system, however when we paid $750 per nite, we didn't think a couple of g&t's too much too ask for. Also ... the canapes were pretzels ... not canapes.
After that gripe, I would still go back time and time again, I just love it ... just take your own gin !!

We spent a fab few days in Tower Lodge - I'd echo all the positive reviews on Tripadvisor!

Stayed in both the Oriental Room and a Lodge Room (cheaper) - both were great, so much space/character in Oriental too.

Staff excellent throughout stay, very helpful in advise on trips/restaurants etc. Hotel well placed for touring Hunter Valley.

Breakfast really appealed, standard buffet, but we found the cooked breakfast especially good. Also ate in nearby Roberts restaurant - free food as part of the package we booked, worth checking out.

In my opinion, not cheap, but definitely good value for the quality it offers.

Would definitely stay in Tower again if return to Hunter Valley!
