“Amazing Romantic Estate & Restaurant for our Wedding Day!! Simply Perfect!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2011

My Husband & I had our Wedding Ceremony & Reception at Spicers Vineyards Estate on 15 April 2011 (where he had proposed the previous August), and we had the most perfect day ever thanks to the team's amazing organisational skills and restaurant Botanica's chef Mark Stapleton's incredible food. Down to the tiniest detail, I did not have to worry about anything, the team were just incredible. We can not fault them. We had our ceremony on the property overlooking the mountain range, and then went on a stroll around the property for some photo's while our 48 guests were treated to what they have named the best canape's they have ever tasted, and drinks. The Reception was at Restaurant Botanica (the onsite restaurant). It was the most relaxed and intimate dinner, and the candles on the tables lit up the restaurant making it look just STUNNING. Four months after our Wedding and everyone we see can not stop talking about how amazing the food was, and how wonderful and attentive the staff were at looking after our guests. We had a few guests with dietary requirements and Mark catered to them beautifully, nothing was a hassle. Myself and the bridesmaids had photos taken in our suite before the wedding and they have turned out beautifully also because of the gorgeous rooms at Spicers Vineyard Estate. If you are dreaming of a relaxed & intimate Wedding Day of your dreams, then Spicers Vineyard Estate is beyond perfect. If I got my Wedding Day again i would definitely choose this Estate & Restaurant again. A huge Thank You to the Team! We will definitely be back!

When we were shown to our room there was soft music playing an aroma therapy candle lit and open fire place ready to light. We have never felt so relaxed ! The room was inviting and comfortable with a big spa bath in the bathroom, a bottle of Tyrells sparkling, chilled and waiting for us that was part of the complimentary mini bar, made the stay even more enjoyable. As we made our way down to the restraunt for dinner there were kangaroos and the farm house pigs Salami and Chop Chop to greet us.
The restraunt, Botanica, has fantastic food, a lot of the vegetables and herbs sourced from their own organic garden, highly recommend the braised pork belly.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were very accomadating and eager to make our stay a very special one with lots of personal touches. The best stay we have ever had in the Hunter Valley.

Went to the Hunter for a weekend away and Spicers was a beautiful base for the trip. The drive from Sydney during peak hour on a Friday night was stressful but once we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the lovely Belinda who checked us in, showed us to our suite and saved the day in reigniting our fireplace! The room was spacious, clean and inviting. There was no room service so we resorted to raiding the complimentary mini bar (this came with the 'Winter Fireside Package') with wine, beer, soft drinks, chocolate, peanut and snacks and then settled in for a night in front of the fireplace with their ridiculously extensive array of DVD selections. THe king sized bed was so comfortable and the bathroom had a great spa bath and luxe amenities.

The next day we woke up to the sunshine and went across to the restaurant for our parisian breakfast - a selection of pastries, a warm tartlet, a fruit platter, cereal and museli, juice, tea/ coffee. You could also add on some warm breakfast options like omlettes but we were full enough after the parisian brekkie! In the evening we returned to the restaurant for a three course dinner. Yummy, yummy food - highly recommended.

The hotel is very well located near the HUnter Valley Gardens and many of the big wineries. The best feature of this place was the friendly service and I have to mention the AMAZING massages I had. I had two massages where the fantastic Natalie and Jenny brought their own massage tables and set it all up in the comfort of my room. Two of the most incredible massages I've ever had. (My boy went and played golf and bocce in the gardens during my massages!) Thank you so much ladies - I wish I could have packed you in my bag and brought you back to Sydney. Would return in a heartbeat!!

Five Star accomodation, Ten Star service. Many thanks to Belinda and her staff for a very warm and friendly stay. Had the 2 night Winter Fireside indulgence package which was devine. Parisian Continental Breakfasts were delicious (nothing like the usual). Dinner at The Cellar on Friday night was hard to beat but Mark and his team did it at The Botanica the following evening. The pressure was on for a perfect weekend and they passed with flying colours. Can also highly recommend HV Boutique Wine Tours for a great day out during your stay. Thanks again Belinda, the quality and friendliness experienced during our stay is surely a reflection the passion you and Mark must have for Spicers. S&R

Two night stay with dinner on the second night.
Hired bikes for $30 each and toured vineyards but many shut as after Easter. Stopped of at Blue Tongue brewery which was fun. Area is certainly not flat!
Staff are very attentive, met by Katy who showed us to Suit 2 on the ground floor. Newly recarpeted. Couldn't fault room or wines etc provided. Open fire in room very welcome in late April.
Played mini golf. Scrabble on patio but carpet tennis court was out of order as a result of water subsidence but I wasn't warned of this until I asked. Looked like it wouldn't take much to fix so should have been done. Also small pool full of leaves which they said that they would clear if we wanted to use but that isn't quite right as it should be cleared as a matter of course.
Breakfasts were good, paid $12 extra for the cooked breakfast on the second day.
The dinner I thought was OK, my lamb main course was not a great piece of meat and was somewhat fatty. Although the staff were all first class I expected to be at least acknowledged or greeted by the owners.
Kangaroos in grounds in the morning.

Room Tip: Downstairs rooms give front and rear patio area

Dear Araf,
Thank you for taking the time to provide a great review with some very valuable feedback. We are so sorry that our tennis court was out of action during your stay. Unfortunately recent rain damage has actually caused great problems that are far worse than they look, washing away the base of the court so that playing on it could cause a horrible injury – which of course we wish to avoid. Sad to say that Tennis court repairers are not plentiful around the area so we have had to wait some time for their availability to fix it.

With the pool – we only wish we could pick up our pool and move it about 50 metres! The previous owners felt building the pool underneath lots of gum trees would provide lovely shade in the summer, which of course it does, but unfortunately it also provides an abundance of leaves and bark that fill our pool non-stop. To keep it 100% leaf free we would have to clean it hourly, but at this colder time of the year when the pool does not really get used (it is not heated) our maintenance team clean the pool once a day. I can understand your disappointment at seeing it with leaves, but fingers crossed we will build a new pool in a year or so, far away from the gum trees!

We print out all of the Trip advisor reviews for the entire team to read so your feedback on the lamb has been passed onto our chef for you.

Most of all, I wish that I had the chance to personally meet or greet you myself and fulfil your desire for this. With recently welcoming our first baby into the world (now 3 months old), I have had to take a much needed step back from the day to day operations of our business – but I can promise you that I am very much around, everyday, ensuring our team take fabulous care of you, which I am pleased to hear that they have done judging from your lovely comments on our service.

We all look forward to welcoming you back to Spicers Vineyards Estate soon!
Belinda Stapleton

We check out tomorrow after 3 nights at Spicers. The staff are friendly the rooms are actually suites with stone open fire places, lounge and dining table for 2, gorgeous throws to snuggle in front of the fire, a king sized bed with lovely linens and a gorgeous bathroom with l'Octainne products. Waiting for us was French champagne, complimentary mini bar and chocolates. Dinner in the onsite restaurant at Botanica was splendid with terrific staff and lots of little extras which just made it that extra special. Lovely breakfast everyday either served in your room or at Botanica looking over the vines. Just wonderful! I highly recommend this great destination in the hunter.
