We had a fantastic escape at Spicers Vineyards with all the things we wanted: beautifully appointed rooms, own fireplace and amazing restaurant. Staff were great in arranging us lunches in other vineyards along with transfers. Highly recommended!

Had a 2 night stay for our 21st wedding anniversary. Staff were professional thoughout our stay, even when the power went out which was beyond their control - made sure everyone had candles - made it very romantic. Rooms are spacious and well appointed - the open fire place in each room is very nice during the winter time and was reset for use every day. The breakfast was lovely (included in price) and should you wish to have a more substanial cooked breakfast this was very well priced (can't comment on content as never felt the need to have the cooked breakfast). Dinner for one night (also included in price) was again very nice. Front desk helped with booking our day winery tour and their recommendation on who to use was spot on. Would recommend and will definately stay again.

My wife and I had stayed at Spicers in 2010 - when it was previously known as The Vineyard Retreat - so when a group of 6 friends/3 couples decided to do a Xmas in July (which for the husbands was a thinly disguised excuse to do some winetasting & buying for our cellars) & someone else booked the accommodation I hadn't realised we were headed back to the same place.
Well under a new brand & a few years on the rooms were in better condition than our original trip - the facilities are top notch, your own fireplace & seriously comfortable bed & delightful massive continental pillows - the free mini bar is a nice touch & I found the breakfasts more than adequate.
Botanica - the inhouse restaurant is regarded by the locals as 1 of the best in the district & was part of the package we took up -food was great but then the standard across the entire valley for foodies is amazing.
All couples struggled to leave -probably because we knew what sort of mess our teenagers had generated at home!

My husband and I along with two other couples just spent a beautiful weekend at Spicers Vineyards Estate. Nothing was too much trouble. Little things like having a fire ready every evening after a long day of wine tasting was wonderful. The staff were attentive without even being noticed, they simply managed to deal with every need without you even noticing.

Breakfast was a treat, beatifully set tables and wonderful food but for the price paid would have been nice to include a cooked breakfast. Dinner was fantastic great.

Comfortable king size beds and good size rooms.

Thanks for a very lovely weekend away.

We stayed at The Vineyards Estate for our Christmas in July getaway with our group of 12. The weather was quite cool so we spent a bit of time in front of our open fire (each room has their own fire). We did a bit of wine tasting around the Valley and came back to our lovely warm room. The rooms are very tastefully furnished with every comfort you could imagine. One of the really special things is that the total mini bar is complimentary with beer, wine, soft drinks, chocolates, crisps, nuts – can you imagine that!
Before going to dinner at the Botanica Restaurant that evening, we had a get-together in the board room downstairs with our group where we were served lovely hot mulled wine and canapés in front of a roaring fire. How good is that?

Room Tip: Every room (there are 8) is great but my preference are the upstairs ones if you are Ok with stairs.

The previous reviews hit the mark. The only gripe for us was the "Parisian breakfast" did not hit the spot, you can't beat a cooked breakfast, if you want it you have to pay $16 (each) extra which is a bit steep given the outlay for the weekend. I would forego the free mini bar for a cooked breakfast! Also newspapers for all guests should be provided, there is only one set at breakfast and you don't feel like reading a copy if it has already been read. Small things but they matter in an upmarket place. The staff are impeccable here, as good as in any five star hotel. Loved the remote location, away from the tourist spots. Room immaculately clean. If you want total privacy, chose an upstairs room, but then you do not have the outside patio (front and back) if you are not downstairs. A downside of being downstairs is that when cars, tour buses etc pull up at Reception they can see straight into your room if you have the lights on, to avoid that you have to pull down the blinds which defeats the object of being in the country. Try their estate chardonnay at dinner, then buy a bottle when you check out, it's divine.

Room Tip: Upstairs if you need privacy, room 4 or 5 if downstairs

Dear Simla10

Thank you so much for your review and contrustive feedback - it is much appreciated. Our team were sad to hear that you did not enjoy your Parisian breakfast. We pride ourselves on holding regular guest feedback forums and to date the overall majority of guests have indicated that they prefer items such as the complimentary mini bar (the bottle of bubbles in there is the perfect way to begin every stay or celebrate a special occasion), a perfectly set fireplace with endless supplies of firewood and kindling, and a turndown service where they enjoy fresh towels later in the day, their beds remade if they enjoyed a nap during the day and the room refreshed, rubbish removed - rather than having a la carte breakfast items included in everyday's stay. With so many fabulous meals to enjoy in the Hunter valley, they note finding the balance of the Parisan breakfast great for most days - better than continental, not as filling as a full country cooked breakfast, and the option of upgrading on any day is always there. That being said, here at Spicers Vineyards Estate, our focus is all on you, our guest, and next time you visit us, we would be delighted to tailor your package for you, perhaps swapping the mini bar for breakfast as you have suggested. And of course would be delighted to organise your newpaper of choice, awaiting you each morning of your stay.

We are so pleased you enjoyed our service and the teams passion for caring for our guests. The entire team look forward to welcoming you back and providing you with a personally tailored package.

Warm Regards,
Belinda Stapleton - Managing Director

My wife & I have just returned from Spicers having celebrated my 60th birthday. What a great couple of days. From the moment we booked the 2 night accomodation package which inluded breakfast on both days as well as dinner on 1 night, the service was impeccable.

To begin, we booked over the phone after reviewing other Trip Advisor comments. The service offered by Rhianon when booking was first class. No detail was left undone and she did what she said she would do regarding email confirmation etc.

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our room which was spotless, very roomy and modern. Two of the staff offered to carry our luggage. The rooms are spacious and the bed very comfortable as are the pillows. The fire place is a great feature especially in this cold weather and provides warmth while indulging in the complimentary mini bar. There is an extensive number of DVD's and you can order as many as you wish and the staff deliver to your room.

Our breakfast was served in the restaurant Botannica on both mornings and is what they call a Parisian breakfast made up of fresh fruit, cereal, pastries, quiche etc which is more than enough to get you going. Everything is so fresh.

Dinner on our night in the restaurant was spectacular. Three courses with everything as it should be ie. delicious, fresh and tasty with just the right amount of service from the staff. Of particular note Rhianon & Michalea were superb. The wine list is extensive.

In conclusion the whole experience is fantastic. The complex includes activities such as tennis, swimming, mini golf, and many board games. Each room also has a number of books. It really seems nothing is left to chance.

Booking out is simple & uncomplicated and Sophie should also be commended on her approach. Will definately be back sometime in the future.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the end of the building if on ground floor as nothing above you. Rooms in centre of...
