We have just spent a night at Spicers Vineyards Estate and would like to share the experience. From the minute we arrived at this beautiful location, we were warmly greeted by the wonderful staff. The whole ambience of the hotel, furnishings, styling and location were excellent. The inclusion of nibbles and bubbles in the mini bar set the standard, but without doubt, the highlight was the fantastic dinner we had in Botanica Restaurant. The food was wonderful, beautifully presented, imaginative and truly memorable.
Breakfast this morning, was delightful - I can honestly say the warm bacon and egg quiches with chilli jam, were divine.

Room Tip: The rooms are all beautifully appointed, and we stayed upstairs, although I do believe there are rooms opening into the grounds, which would be delightful.

Wow , what a fantastic place to stay .. We really did not know what to expect but everything exceeds what we thought. The staff are so friendly , suites beautifully designed and relaxing . Complimentary bar with nibbles. .. Everything thought about meticulously .. The food in their restaurant is 5 star standard with fantastic wines on offer. Breakfast in the morning was a lovely surprise, freshly squeezed juices, and homemade quiches, poached eggs and pastries. This can also be delivered to your room .. Well done ..

Room Tip: All the rooms are perfectly situated .

I have never written on this or any other similar website but I felt compelled to tell the world about our amazing stay at Spicers last week.

My partner and I arranged a very last minute (child-free!) trip to the hunter and were so pleasantly surprised at what awaited us. Our first impression was of the incredible Sharon at reception (ever-present – after 3 days we decided that she must NEVER sleep as she was always around and super attentive). Our room was perfect (just wish it had been cool enough to start up the fireplace!), the complimentary mini bar – one of the nicest touches EVER, our dinner at Botanica rivalled any restaurant I have dined in throughout Sydney, the pool area was cozy and natural (we spent many hours there!) and the staff were able to offer advice and suggestions on local wineries/eateries that were honest and accurate. We had one tiny little technical hitch with teh water in our bathroom – maintenance staff were there within minutes and it was all sorted. Unnecessarily, Spicers staff arrived not only with a bottle of beautiful champagne to compensate but then arranged for our breakfast (yummy food!) to be served at a beautiful table set up in the vines. Lovely lovely touch.

I have been to the hunter on at least 10 occasions and this is up there with the most memorable because of our accommodation and the staff at Spicers.

It is obvious that the owners have placed their heart and soul into this business and as a result we felt like we were staying with family.

We will be back very soon – looking forward to trying one of the new rooms (oh and the pool!)

Dear SM1974Sydney,

WOW, what an amazing review. Our entire team thank you for taking the time to share your experience with other travellers. The team feel so proud to receive a review such as yours, especially when there was a small issue with the plumbing on one evening and that the team did such a great job of both rectifying the issue and ensuring you felt spoilt!

Visit again soon so we can do it all again!

Regards,

My husband and I just spent our first night at Spicers and we are already so sad that we have to leave tomorrow. The grounds are gorgeous, the rooms very well-appointed, the breakfast is to-die-for and truly the highlight is the warm and friendly staff. The staff is so quick to help with anything and they take such care in making our stay special. The location is perfect, too, and is very close to all of the best Hunter Valley wineries. I highly recommend setting up an in-room massage. We enjoyed a tandem massage in our room upon arrival and it was the perfect way to start our relaxing weekend. The room comes with a stocked complimentary mini bar that had a fabulous sparkling wine, chocolate and other beverages. The room also has a huge spa bathtub that overlooks the beautiful eucalyptus groves around the hotel. After being charged $19.95 to watch a movie at the Westin in Sydney a few days ago, we were thrilled to find Spicers' large list of DVDs that we could check out for free to watch in our room. The list goes on and on... everything is perfect. If we didn't live in the US, we'd come here regularly for a romantic weekend getaway. Oh, and did I mention that we saw a whole field of kangaroos this morning?! That was a real treat for us as we'd never seen them in the wild before. There is also a nice pool and spa on the grounds which we can't wait to try this afternoon. As I mentioned before, the complimentary breakfast is superb. This morning was fresh watermelon-orange juice, a selection of cereals, fresh-baked quiche, pastries, poached eggs and smoked salmon. Truly heaven! Spicers is worth every penny. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in the area.

My husband and I stayed at Spicers resort recently and upon arrival were greeted with friendly helpful staff which continued throughout our stay.

The resort is very quiet which is due to only a small amount of people can stay which makes for a pleasant stay.

The rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely laid out.

My only whinge, and this is due to my husband and I like to keep active, would be the tennis court and pool.

The tennis court is virtually out of use due to the uneven court surface. If you were to play you would probably break your ankle and the pool was very uninviting.

This disappointed us as we weren't told when making our reservation the tennis court was the way it is.

In all fairness we could see the resort was having additions and work done to it but having said that they need to upkeep and maintain these areas especially since they say they have them to use and certainly the staying price is not cheap and they call themselves a resort.

Dear Lyn,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of our guesthouse property and for providing feedback on your recent stay. We are really pleased to hear that you felt your experience was relaxing with great service and rooms. You are absolutely right, we have been working on some additions and updates to the property. We strongly believe in continual improvement so our current additions are 4 new guest rooms, a day spa facility and you will be pleased to hear - a new pool! We will be excited to unvail our new pool in this coming Feb and the day spa should open in March. We have also nearly completed a new outdoor games pavillion with lifesized Chess and Checkers!

The team at Spicers Vineyards Estate pride themselves on promoting our property as an intimate, wine region retreat/guesthouse (rather than a resort) and will always strive for improvement. We look forward to your return to the property so that you can enjoy our new pool and we can spoil you in the day spa. I would be delighted to upgrade you to one of our new suites so that you can experience all thats new!

Kind Regards,

Belinda Stapleton
