“Lacked something...”
Reviewed 27 October 2013 via mobile

This place is nice however it needed some tlc.
Jess our host was lovely but I felt that it needed a makeover a bit.
The wines were good and had great flavour however I did feel as if they really relied on the 'McLeish' name rather than the wine itself.

“Lovely find”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

We recently were guests at a beautiful wedding in the Hunter, where the wines on offer were from McLeish estate.

There was a range of different varieties on offer through the night, from Whites, Roses, Reds and desert wines.....

Perhaps it was the atmosphere in which we were enjoying the wines that made them so appealing.......

So, the day after the wedding we wandered over to the McLeish Estate for another taste and lo and behold - the wines all held up just was well as the night before !

The tasting was low key, however the information we received from the staff was invaluable and entertaining. Of course after purchaseing a few to take home with us, we joined their wine club and look forward to receiving our first delivery quite soon.

Great all round result.

“Great Wines”
Reviewed 15 May 2013

We like these wines so much, we became members many years ago. As always when in wine country we visited the cellar door. Once again, as always, our experience was wonderful. The wines, many which have won some very prestigious wine awards, were excellent. As this is a family owned and run winery, your host at a tasting is often a family member. What better way to learn about a wine than from someone who has been there through the entire process - from bare vine to finished bottled product! McLeish is always a must for us and our friends.

“Friendly. Great wines, reasonably priced. Good value for money”
Reviewed 11 February 2013

We are possibly biased as we are members of this winery. We have been coming here for many years and have always been treated with courtesy and enjoyed some very good wines. On a hot day the Cellar Door is a haven from the heat as it is at the back of the building. On arrival we enjoy being given the time to relax before tasting the wonderful wines that are on offer. We have often arrived when staff are busy and have no problem in waiting for the people who have arrived before us have been served so as we can have the undivided attention of the staff member on duty. More often than not you will meet the family at the Cellar Door who are more than happy to talk about their wonderful hand picked wines. All fo which come from the vineyards you see as you drive onto the property.

“Such an established winery, but no customer service!!”
Reviewed 30 January 2013 via mobile

We stayed at Elfin Hill & on their recommendation we stopped by to sample their range.
Sadly we were very disappointed - while the property is stunning the cellar door was plain & lacked atmosphere
The person conducting the tasting, actually the only person at the cellar door, spent more time talking to another group of young ladies rather than managing both their group and ours, especially when both groups arrived at the same time!!
She was not helpful and rather abrupt!
The 2 wines that she could be bothered to bring us to try were average and to be honest, not worth the purchase price.
We had been given a voucher from Elfin Hill for wine tasting and a chocolate sampler however we were told the sampler was actually for sale and the "voucher" was nothing more than advertising for their vineyard, a promotion!
Management at Elfin Hill completely disagreed when we offered our feedback and were infact shocked and disappointed at our experience at McLeish!
During our hunter valley stay we visted many many vineyards and found so many to be polite and helpful - its such a shame that in an area that is so dependent on tourists and providing service that such an established winery can get the basic customer service so completely wrong!
