“Beautiful, tranquil location in the Hunter Valley..”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

The Carriages is in a fantastic setting very close to Hunter Valley Gardens and Hope Estate if you are going for a gig like we were. It is a leisurely 20 minute walk to the venue..

The accommodation is very well looked after and ideal for a romantic weekend away. We had a breakfast basket delivered each morning which was a nice touch.

Our only disappointment was that there seemed to be a smell in our room (No. 1) and also found the in room fridge to be quite noisy which impacted our sleep quality.

Overall though, we would definitely come back!!

We're very pleased you enjoyed your weekend at Carriages, and especially the boutique hotel setting & country breakfast to get you going each day.

The staff were disheartened to read about a smell in your room and investigated this immediately. Whilst we couldn't detect any smell we wish we had known during your stay so that we could have responded to fix any problem and make you more comfortable in your room. (Or we would have been pleased to move you to another room).

We hope it wasn't too bad and hasn't put a damper on your stay on The Vineyard... being in the wine-region can sometimes mean that scents created by winery fermentation processes can carry on the wind.. these are usually not unpleasant, but can on occasion be quite strong.

Thanks for your comments on the mini-fridge also; these are serviced regularly and we provided your comments to the team.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide your comments. We look forward to welcoming you back to Carriages again soon. Summer is a great time of year at Carriages... the vines are full & green as we head into harvest season... and of course there's beautiful crisp Chardonnay available onsite to enjoy by the pool..!

Wanted the perfect place for a surprise weekend break for my girlfriend and we really couldn't have found anywhere better than Carriages. As other reviewers have said, it's above all things idyllic, peaceful and completely completely beautiful.
Rebecca and Nick helped make the weekend as lovely as possible for us both, going way above and beyond to give us the perfect service. So grateful for that!
We were in the spa suite and you couldn't ask for a nicer or more relaxing place to stay with probably the biggest and most comfortable bed we'd ever seen, let alone slept in, and a luxurious deep spa bath.
Everything about the place is breathtakingly nice - the setting in among the vines, the service, the swimming pool and tennis court, the breakfast hamper, the room and the wine (which is grown on the estate). Would recommend to anyone even thinking of travelling up to the Hunter. Loved loved LOVED it! Thanks again guys! Nick and Fiona x

This place really is idyllic! It was first visit to the Hunter Valley and my partner chose The Carriages to stay.. best decision ever! Lovely warm friendly welcome from Rebecca and her dog Wellington! :) Our room was amazing, clean, tidy, cute farmhouse finishes, perfect for our tastes. Rebecca was very helpful and booked a table at a local restaurant for dinner that evening and ordered the taxi; she also booked our wine tour for the next day. The best part was waking up a little squiffy and sore headed on Saturday morning and finding wicker basket full of tasty goodies waiting outside our room! fresh croissants and muffins, breads and cereals, best breakfast ever! Rebecca and her husband are a lovely couple and were very welcoming to us, the place is great, the wine is very tasty, great value for money.. in short... book to stay here! :) x

Thanks for your lovely comments of your recent stay. Its rewarding for all the team to hear such happy feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back again... Summer is a vibrant time at Carriages with the saltwater pool in full swing... and soon we will harvest (by hand) the lovely looking grapes!

Autumn is also spectacular with the vineyard turning a warm orange hue before the leaves start falling... sunny days and cool nights make it perfect for a crackling logfire in your room. Thanks again for choosing Carriages.

We stayed in the Gatehouse (Room 9) for 2 nights on the October long weekend. After only one night, we were so relaxed that it felt like we had been away for a week.
We had spent lots of time researching because we didn't want to stay in a large commercialised hotel room - but still wanted to be reasonably central to everything.
Carriages was a perfect setting. It exceeded our expectations. We were nestled amoungst some beautful gardens and the winery which was so picturesque and peaceful. The room was large and beautifully presented. The entire suite was exceptionally clean (including the spa bath ensuite).
Each morning a breakfast hamper was left for us to enjoy, including croissants, muffins, toast, cereal, juice, etc.
The cottages are in the same street as the Peppertree winery and Robarts restaurant. We were only approximately 3km to Muses restaurant and 2-3km to Pokolbin village. And probably 5km up the road from the Hunter Valley Gardens.
We would highly recommend this place for a visit to the Hunter Valley region. We even bought some of their wine as a souvenir to remember our romantic weekend away.

Room Tip: Room 9 was perfect. It had the spa bath, new carpet and a recently renovated bathroom. There is a...

I stayed at Carriages for a weekend. I'd been in the Hunter Valley before, however I'd stayed at Tower Lodge which is way over priced. Carriages is beautiful place to stay, and in a great location for wine tasting and visiting the vineyards. It's walkable to get to Pepper Tree and Tower Lodge, and very close to Tempest Two, Hungerford Hill, Lakes Folly and the wonderful Muse restaurant. The accommodation at Carriages is great, the family that own the place are very friendly, the wine is great and breakfast awesome...highly recommended

Thank you for your kind words about your recent stay...

It makes all the team happy to know that you enjoyed your time on the Carriages Vineyard, and especially the pretty setting & proximity to all the great things in Hunter Valley.

Its an exciting and vibrant time on the Vineyard right now as we approach harvest time (we pick by hand at Carriages)... and there is a real buzz in the Valley. We'd love to welcome you back soon.

My wife and I stayed over for one night in early August. This was our first visit and were not sure what to expect. It was far better than our expectations and would have loved to extend our stay. We will be back. Peaceful and convenient with country comforts and good finishes. Fireplace was cosy and breakfast basket in the morning was lovely. The Carriages stay has made us want to return to the Hunter soon.
