Best night sleep i had in a long time. The rooms are very spacious, nice and very clean. We had dinner at the italian restaurant next door which is part of the Lodge. Ordered food at 8pm and the main course arrived at 9:30 pm, unbelievable. It was busy but the restaurant struggled big time when the place was packed. Food is good though but not wow.
The location of the lodge is right in the middle of the hunter valley region and just opposite the "first creek" vineyard.

What a great find on our way home! Our lodge (Settlers Suite) was perfect for 2, well appointed, clean&spacious. Our deck overlooking their own vineyard ,full of grapes ready for harvest was the perfect scene, despite the hot weather. The Italian restaurant was very impressive for dinner the first night as well as for pizza ,back on our deck the next. Our breakfast of locally made produce was a highlight each morning. All the staff, were very friendly, caring& helpful, especially at office&restaurant. Our first trip without our children, what a great location!Would love to return with friends &do another wine tour.Hermitage Lodge was our first stay in the Hunter and we will return.

Room Tip: Quiet,private&views of vines.

My family and I stayed at Hermitage Lodge and will definitely be going back again! The owners are extremely accommodating and were very helpful on answering questions my son had about the vineyards. We were shown to our room, and explained the services the lodge had. A continental breakfast was provided with homemade muesli, yoghurt, muffins, fresh orange juice and tea/coffee. The restaurant was outstanding and the food delightful. The accommodation is close to all the vineyards and the Hunter Valley Gardens. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

After reading most reviews of most properties in the Hunter Valley and calling several of the properties we decided on the Hermitage Lodge. As on the phone, the hosts were gracious, informative and very accommodating. They helped us select a quiet room and described the room and properties explicitly. We were very pleasantly greeted and shown to our room; we were very impressed as it was much better than we anticipated. Continental breakfast was provided and a cooked breakfast available if requested. The highest compliment I can pay is that our room and location were so quiet you could hear the sun rise -- and we did!! I cannot imagine any other lodging better than this in the Hunter. As an added bonus, it was very convenient to wineries, the Hunter Valley Gardens, and restaurants. Without hesitation, this is the place to stay in the Hunter Valley!

Room Tip: either of the studios or 2-level suites are excellent value, have sit-down balconies, large living a...

My partner love to get away for the weekend to the Hunter, and this was our first stay at Hermitage Lodge. I would definitely go back. It is close enough to most all of the wineries that we want to visit, as well as resturants like Mojo's on Wilderness, or getting over to the Smelly Cheese Shop. Norine, I believe, checked us in, and she was friendly and made sure that we had whatever information we needed. She walked us to our room to make sure everything was in order, which is was. It was nice having everything in order after the drive from Sydney. Thought that the in room breakfast was perfect for getting going in the morning; with respect to what was offered. Being a Yank, I wanted some peanut butter on my toast, which I happened to have on my own, but my partner was fine with his vegemite. The room had aircon, which is a must for me. The only "downside", if I had to find something, was that the soaking tub was a little small, but was plenty deep, and the jets worked fine. And in the morning, the way our room faced, the sun was too hot to eat breakfast outside...but that is probably just me, and would vary based on the time of the year. Would recommend without hesitation, and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Get one of the rooms not attached to the restaurant and main building...I believe they are a little...
