None of the other wineries we went to charge to taste the wines. There were too many to taste and half were not on the wine list which made it confusing. It was the only winery we went to in 2 days where we didn't find one wine we liked. The wine is more expensive than all the other wineries we went to. We didn't try the condiments as it didn't look very hygienic the way they have it set up for people to help themselves. I won't be back.

Good afternoon Enjoy_the_breeze,

It's a shame you didn't enjoy your time at Moorebank, I just wanted to clear up that you would have had your $5.00 tasting charge refunded on the purchase of 1 bottle of wine, but as you didn't enjoy any of the wines, I feel, a small fee of $5.00 is reasonable to taste a range of up to 10 different wines.

Moorebank has been in operation for the past 25 years & its only in these last few months that we have started to charge for tastings to help cover these costs but i know we aren't the only winery in the hunter that does have a charge.

I understand it could have been a little confusing as there are a few newly released wines we haven't updated onto our tasting list, unfortunately these things happen.

In regards to our condiments we would love some feedback on your suggestions on how we could make the tasting section more hygienic. At the moment we use tongs, tissues, tasting sticks, bin for used tasting sticks and we keep the lids on the jars to prevent spoilage, so any other suggestions you have would be very helpful.

Its sad to hear you wont be back to Moorebank, but we wish you happy travels if you decide to return to the Hunter Valley.

The Hunter Valley has a number of large & commercial wineries - Morebank is not one of them! We arrived at the Cellar Door to be met by the winemaker himself, who firstly made sure we all had a drink (including home made lemonade for the driver!), and then proceeded to talk to us about his wines and ask us what we thought.

He was very open & down to earth, and we ended up staying for close to an hour, trying all of his wines and talking about wines & his winery. It was a very local type of experience & we loved it.

I'll be honest & say it wasn't the best wine we tried all day (it also wasn't the worst!), however the overall experience was fantastic. I would definitely recommend a visit

We are on an alcohol free version of the Hunter. These guys do a wonderful spicy grape sauce and we also picked up some chutney. Sheep in the front yard and pleasant non overbearing staff make it worth the stop

Truly genuine service that i found lacking elsewhere. This place is one of those smaller wineries that don't have the foot traffic or location that draws in the big crowds. Savour it while you can. We only stopped by here as it was recommended to us by someone at the Tyrrells Winery. Lynne took us through the wines we prefere and then she gave us something to drink that is, in the words of my significant other, divine. It's called a Grandis Ginseng Infused Moscato. Make sure you drop in and try it, you will be suprised by how good it tastes. Only a five minute drive from the hunter valley gardens.
