“View so great you forget your plate”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

Another Hunter Valley institution with a great view - can see for miles. Service was warm and friendly. A nice and light scallop entree prepared us for some heavy mains. I had the kangaroo which was accompanied by the most amazing sunflower seed risotto - a fantastic take on this italian staple. My partner had the salmon which he felt was overpowered by the sauce. The fresh-baked bread was evil - we had several slices. Price point was reasonable. A great spot all around.

“Still Good after all these years”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

I 1st discovered Esca at Bimbadgen with a friend by accident one sunny Saturday in I think 2005. We visited regularly and then in 2008 I got sick and only just managed to get back there after a 6 year break.
It remains a wonderful restaurant with incredible views, great friendly staff and excellent food. There are newer and trendier restaurants that have opened since I last visited the Hunter Valley but the food last Monday at Esca is still brilliant. The duck was delicious as was the tasting plate of cheeses.
There is a wine list with many by the glass and a lot of back vintages of Bimbadgen and other wines to tempt you.
Now that I am well again I will be back regularly.

“A beautiful high tea experience - excellent value!”
Reviewed 17 April 2014 via mobile

On a trip to the vineyards with my mother, I organised for us to have high tea at Esca Restaurant. The food was delicious and great value - $50 for the two of us with a glass of champagne each also. The service was attentive and we enjoyed watching two helicopters take off and land outside. A very pleasurable afternoon. Highly recommended.

“Not a great experience”
Reviewed 16 April 2014 via mobile

Wine and outlook lovely. Food and service disappointing. We had the tasting plate - too much wine and not enough food. We were left feeling hungry.

“A Nice Place to Have Lunch in the Hunter Valley”
Reviewed 8 April 2014

During an "unplanned" trip through the Hunter Valley we came across Bimbadgen Estate Wines. The Cafe seemed like a wast of time so we chose the restaurant. The food really was above our expectations and was delicious. The service was excellent as were the wines. I never understand though when you pay top dollar they do not add a few more vegetables (minimal cost to the proprietor). Having said that the included small appetiser and special bread was appreciated. Choose an outdoor table and face the major valley if you can.
