“Fabulous Night”

We were staying with friends at Peppers and went to Roberts for dinner. Due to our group of 10 we were given the private dining room at the front door with its ante room and fireplace. Sounds grand for a slab hut but it was terrific for our group. Food sublime and service exceptional. Wine slightly on the expensive side. Well done and definitely worth a visit.

We are pleased you and your group enjoyed your private dining experience at Roberts Circa 1876. The slab hut is fantastic and the Taittinger Lounge exception for a great group like yours.

I am currently updating the wine list and will look at the pricing, but we do try and stay cheaper than our competitors, and I do appreciate the feedback.

We hope to see you again soon.

“Romantic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

There is certainly everything to like and nothing to dislike about Roberts. The old farm house has been beautifully and traditionally renovated with amazing woodwork. There are beautiful open fireplaces, quiet rooms for a drink as well as a beautiful dining room with candles and a fireplace. As for the food, it was the best food that I have ever had. The combination of fresh ingredients was perfection on a plate both main meals and deserts were wonderful. The large garden where most ingredients are grown was fantastic to wander around. We absolutely loved the whole experience so much so that we returned on our second night away.

Thank you so much for the kind words and review of Roberts Circa 1876. We do strive to deliver the best food and service in the Valley. We are very happy you enjoyed your time with us on both occasions. On your next visit I am very happy to let you know we are opening a new restaurant in the Convent as a sister ship to Roberts Circa 1876. This is based on dietary requirements and also ethically resourced local produce, including from our own gardens. This restaurant is called Eight Eight.

We hope to see you again soon.

An AWESOME place, meal, atmosphere. Fine dinning at its best, wait staff could be a bit more pleasant, but it was a beautiful meal. Highly recommend

“How lucky are we to wine and dine in such a beautiful part of Australia in such a superb atmosphere with the one I love.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

I instantly fell in love with the beautiful old building as we walked up the driveway. It was picturesque with the old grape vines draping over the wooden windows. And as you go through the solid wood entry, you have the hard decision whether it sit in the wine cellar and admire all the beautiful wine bottles or sit in another cosy lounge with an open fire which looks so inviting that you just want to sit all curled up with a glass of red wine and read a book. But as you keep walking you are welcomed by friendly staff to a gorgeous restaurant, where we thoroughly enjoyed superb wine and delicious food.
I think to myself how lucky we are to be able to enjoy such pleasures of life. Thanking you

Thank you for your review of Circa 1876. Next time you come we would love it if you curled up with a glass of red on one of the comfy couches in the Taittinger Lounge. We get customers doing this after the meal and just want to stay for a while.

So next time, just let us know and you are more than welcome. We look forward to you returning soon.

“Roberts - Worth a visit when you are in the Hunter Valley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014

We planned a special lunch in a Hunter Valley Restaurant on a June Sunday. Roberts has for a long time been on our "must visit" restaurants and finally we did it. We knew it wouldn't be cheap however we left very satisfied. The service was good, the restaurant atmosphere and setting is special and the food was great. The meal servings were not large but after we had finished I realised I often over eat and so the servings were just right (I never understand why high proceed restaurants don't put a little inexpensive vegetable on your plate to "fill it up"!). The wine prices were top shelf but what the heck it was a special day. We plan to return to Roberts again.
