First impression is that you are in the tropics with palm trees, Banana Bushes and colourful parrots overhead. Port Macquarie is a great place with a climate to match. It appears that The Village Resort time-share had its golden days in the early 2000's when the resort won a number of prestigious awards. These days it is starting to age as some of the bungalows are looking a bit dated. That's not to say that they are not comfortable. They have pretty well everything that is needed on a holiday. Our bungalow was huge with lots of chairs, big sofa, flat screen TV's and spacious bedrooms. Supremely comfortable!
That's not to say the resort doesn't throw up some challenges. For a start,it is worth noting that the resort is about ten kilometres from the town centre. We were very thankful that we took our car as I did not see much in the way of buses in the vicinity. The other problem is that the surrounding location is devoid of shops, newsagent and coffee shops. Almost invariably,we had to drive into the town centre for even our menial shopping. The resort has a number of great facilities such as tennis courts, mini golf, indoor pool, club rooms with table tennis and parlour games. There are also lots of BBQ's, some situated right on the lake. The resort has a very picturesque setting. As mentioned, Port Macquarie has one of the best climates in Australia. However the bizarre thing for us was how cold the inside of the bungalow was when we were there in June. In our bungalow, we had one larger bar heater which was ineffective in the large space of the bungalow. A very obliging Teresa from reception gave us a second heater, a smaller heater. Admittedly this greatly improved our situation but it wasn't perfect. Apart from a couple of cold nights in the bungalow, we had a very good holiday thanks to Village Resort Staff.
Points To Note:
1. At Village Resort, a car is a necessity.
2. Surprisingly, there are not many good long walking tracks near the resort. For those of you who walk an hour or more a day.,Tuffins lane and the sports fields around the corner is okay and out of reach of the constant traffic.
3. No restaurant at the resort. There are three Leagues Clubs in town and they are really good value for money. Beware of some restaurants in Port Macquarie as they are very expensive.
4. Wifi at Village Resort can be a bit erratic. Good Wifi in town at Port Central shopping Centre. Its free with a cup of coffee at the Coffee Club. Great coffee, too.

Staff were very hostile, unhelpful, and unfriendly. In our villa, the floor was unclean, leaving our feet feeling gritty. There were many dead bugs left on the carpet upstairs- it looked liked it had not been vacuumed for months. The spa bath was out of order, the tv volume kept going from loud to soft as we watched it- very irritating, and the DVD player did not work. The staff member did not seem interested when we told her about this. There was no air conditioning so, due to the humidity, everything felt damp - couch, towels, sheets.
We chose the resort as it is situated next to the sporting event we were attending that weekend. We were told on arriving, that because we couldn't check in till later in the day, we were not allowed to park there- even though a spot was free. This caused us to have to park a half hour walk away. What ever happened to good customer service, and hospitality -trying your best to accommodate your guests????
We had to pay a "service fee" to use the facilities of the "resort"- at most resorts this is covered in the room rate. After paying this, we find that my 15 and 17 year old are not allowed to use half of the facilities -even with us there with them. Therefore, as a family, we were limited to what we could do.
We ended up leaving early.
Having stayed at other holiday club resorts for the same price, this one does not compare.
Would definitely not recommend.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

Thank you for providing feedback on your recent stay with us at Village Resort.

We are disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay and would like to address a number of points you have addressed in your review.

Our bungalows are cleaned on a weekly basis and we do not have any noted complaints from you during your stay regarding the grit and bugs. We encourage all guests at the time of their stay to report any cleaning related issues to Reception so we can rectify these immediately for the comfort of the guest. We also didn’t receive notification that the DVD player in the Bungalow was out of order, and again, encourage guests to report such issues immediately to Reception.

Due to water restrictions at this time, the spa was not available for guests to use. Only one of our Bungalows has air-conditioning and it is advised at the time of booking if you specifically require air-conditioned accommodation that you speak to our Reception staff regarding this request. As for the humidity, this is obviously not something within our control and is a seasonal occurrence. Our suggestion is to guests who are affected by humid conditions travel to Village Resort at another time during the year when the humidity is low.
Regarding the service fee to use facilities at Village Resort, this would have been clearly stated in your confirmation letter which we encourage all guests to read prior to their arrival. We note that the service fee you were charged was $10 for three days which we do not feel was unreasonable in exchange for using the Resort equipment.

The rules for our Gym are that no one under the age of 18 is allowed to use these facilities, including the Club House which is also for adults only. These rules apply to everyone who stays at the Resort. You have said that as a family you were limited as to what you could do, however, activities at Village Resort which the whole family can use are carried and include tennis, putt putt, table tennis, kayaking and snooker as well as use of the lagoon and pool.

Kind Regards,

Sally

My family and I have been coming here since just before I was born (i'm now 19). My parents and my uncle enjoyed it so much they now have time shares here and own a couple of floating weeks between them. When I was little i used to enjoy all the features/ activities offered within the resort. Some of my earliest memories were waking up to feed the fish in the lagoon, then go for a swim in the pool first to then later end up in the refreshing lagoon. In the afternoon I would enjoy going for bike rides with my 3 older siblings around the resort and then later play a large game of table-tennis with friends we'd made at the resort. The night time my dad would cook a BBQ and we'd all sit around and enjoy the company before probably going back for another swim.

For my parents, they love the location as its only a 4 hour drive from where we live in Sydney but you honestly feel miles away. Mum will go into town to shop for all the bargains and then later she might actually finish a book (from the many piling up at home). My dad gets engrossed in all there is to offer at the resort and is always keen to play with his children; whether it be table-tennis, tennis, swimming, spa, bike riding, kayaking. We are now all grown up and he's almost 60....but he's still the one waking us up at 8 in the morning to go for that swim in the lagoon- a big kid at heart.

The location is pretty good as I've been lucky enough to go go-karting 30 minutes away a few times, go put put golfing just down the road and two years ago i watched my cousin go skydiving for his 18th birthday at the airport 5 minutes away.

All-in-all, we love coming back and even though now it can be harder to get up there with work committments, we try to come for a few days just to get a little taste of the peaceful serenity and fun atmosphere that the village resort offers. Its a place i've thoroughly enjoyed coming back to consistently throughout my life and I can only hope other families have had similar experiences to ours. Sometimes I still feel like that 4 year old girl arriving at the resort for the first time...we barely got through reception before dad unloaded the bikes off our silver trailer and we rode along all the paths and driveways throughout the resort full of excitement but highly unaware of my week to come. I wouldnt trade the memories for anything.

Room Tip: If you or your children are fond of swimming and are likely to have a few BBQs while your there, try...

The resort was of good quality. Easy access by car to town & local attractions.
While the No vacancy sign was up there was little noise from the other guests.
The service provided was excellent and the staff were very friendly & helpful.
I had a very relaxing holiday.

The bungalow was huge, kids loved sleeping upstairs. Everything functioned and the facilities were great, especially the kayaks. I'd go back. The only downside is the location, it's a short drive out of town.

We were a family of 8 adults and 3 children. We also had family staying off-site who were allowed to spend the days at the resort with us. The rooms were very clean and tidy with enough kitchen utensils & equipment to make meals and even birthday cup cakes. There is a laundry facility in each unit with an iron & ironing board. The resort has plenty of onsite activities, tennis courts, mini-golf, indoor heated pool, snooker tables, table tennis and a small lake with paddling boats. We found that we could entertain ourselves onsite most days. The clubhouse is great for evening BBQ's with it's own kitchen. We just packed the dishwasher with our used cutlery & crockery and the cleaners emptied it the next day. There is an Aldi less than 1 km away and a great seafood restaurant across the road. The staff are friendly, helpful & professional. A great place to stay.

We were a family of 2 adults and 4 girls, 13 to 5. Unit is 2 queen bedrooms downstairs with 2 bathrooms - one with large spa - and lounge, dinning and kitchen area, and a large open area upstairs with 4 bunk beds, separate tv and open activities space furnished with large table and bench seating. Units are separate from each other, with bushes providing some extra privacy.

Hardly left the resort with many activities to keep kids entertained, and cooking facilities in and out of unit to meet many menu demands. Indoor pool is large (huge), heated but not deep - more for fun than exercise, but gym room well equipped and maintained.

Good restaurants close by, but need car to shop in town.

Overall well maintained, serviced and god standard of cleanliness.

Will be back, many times.

Room Tip: A unit around the lagoon is very relaxing - old, but well renovated, great size and design, and well...
