Very friendly and helpful manager. Likes to give advices about the area and thing to do there. The room was clean and the wifi works. Even the tv has enough channels to fall asleep easily. ;) so all good enough for the price. It was 80 $

We stayed for 3 nights on our way to gold coast. Tea coffee making wasn't filled daily and the room wasn't cleaned either. for $80 each day there are better places and the parking was very congusted. free wifi was hopeless as there was no signal.

The Manager actually told us it is cheaper to book online. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good value for money. Close to town. About 10 minutes to Freeway which gone as after 8 hours on the road the last thing you want is semi's flying past your door. Stayed twice, would not hesitate to stay again.

Don't forget ask for services, appliances. Onsite parking is available but gets crowded. Average distance from city centre and other Supermarkets.
No balconies which seems to be a drawback. Overall a good place to stay for tight budget travelers.

My husband and I stayed en route to Sydney. I really liked the small, old-fashioned feel of the place. The room was small, clean and quiet. The pillows weren't great but it was just for a night and the price was comparatively cheap. The bathroom reminded me of boarding school, all grey tiled and functional without any charm. There are two channels on TV.

I really like suggestion by Kim131313 that the owners consider developing the retro theme. It wouldn't take much effort to visit the local op shops for fun crockery and paintings or add a lick of paint for a feature wall.

Port Macquarie Motel is a quaint, dated motel and offers a 'step back in time' experience. We loved it for a one night stay. Despite the dated style and furnishings, it is well maintained and our room had all we needed, plus more - a comfortable bed with fine smooth bedlinen, flat screen tv, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, plates, cutlery and a toaster, a few toiletries and also towels. The style of updated elements of our room such as the shower and sink in the ensuite bathroom were in keeping with the retro feel, yet met with today's requirements. It was a good value for money stop-over, the price reflecting the dated accommodation. My suggestion to the owner is to invest a little in cleaning the carpets and replace the worksurface with a new but retro style one. It's a great little motel that has potential of increased ratings if you were to develop and really promote the retro theme - such as 60s, 70s curtains, plates, cups etc.

I don't completely understand all the complaints about this motel. The rooms are outdated as the building is a bit old. If you are looking for something fancy you should look elsewhere. The room was cleaned well and there were everything we needed to make our overnight stay pleasant. We stayed in a standard room, not the budget one. Room size was OK although it could have been bigger. Still, it was big enough for the two of us. I would say that this is a very good basic motel and very good value for money as we paid 63e.
