Ozzie Pozzie Backpackers was a good hostel (just like the other YHA's I stayed at). It was a small but roomy enough, and it reminded me of a little cute beach hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly, the location was very good (you could walk anywhere) and the chilling areas were very nice. I would've wanted to stay there more than just for one night. But I'll definitely go there again!
The rooms were nice, the beds were soft and you could hear the sound of the ocean from the window. I stayed at a 6-bed dorm and we had our own toilet and a good shower. The kitchen was well equipped and I have absolutely nothing negative to say. It was a good stay! There were also a pool and a TV room. :)
Port Macquarie is a lovely little town and you could spot wild dolphins in the "harbor" (WE DID!!!) and huge pelicans for example. I'd recommend you to walk the coastline and see "the rocks" (the famous painted rocks). Definitely a place worth visiting!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Ozzie Pozzie is Port Macquarie’s most highly recommended resort youth hostel by "Lonely Planet" and "Lets-Go" and Port Macquarie’s best value and cheap youth hostel accommodation. While this quiet youth hostels location features a great social atmosphere in a tropical setting, it is only 5 mins walk from town, shops and bars. Richard used his 8 years of backpacking hostels experience to renovate and extend Ozzie Pozzie and operate it as a friendly fun-filled hostel with lots of free extras. Newly extended it is spotlessly clean with two cosy courtyards to meet and greet, and lounges & hammocks to enjoy in a cabana around a palm fringed pool. ... more less
