“In desperate need of maintenance and not overly clean”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2014

I was dropped off at the front door and ready to check in. The old lady on reception told me to wait and half way during her accommodation she asked me to leave and drive my car around the back and then come back in to check in. We did that and then proceeded to check in. I paid the $20 ($10 per night) for parking and didn't have a problem with that and received our room keys. I had booked for a 2 bedroom apartment and was given a room on the 7th floor. We went straight up to the room, only to find that once we opened the door the door stop was broken and in the middle of the room. The bed for the main bedroom was in the second room while the master room had two singles and an ensuite. Not good for a 3 year old. We looked at the ensuite to find that the shower tap was broken and on the bottom of the shower floor.

We went straight back down stairs and asked to advise the lady on reception. She proceeded to tell me that they can put whatever room configurations together that they wished. When I told her that there was maintenance issues with the room she almost seemed that she was challenging me and told me that it had not been reported. She proceeded to ring what she called the GM of the hotel and while I was standing there she spoke to him saying I was dissatisfied, didn't like the room and found it very unclean. Well, yes, I did find all that wrong with it.

On that we waited until she relocated us to another floor with another available room. This room was a little different. Bedding configuration was to what I had seen on their website and again, was still in need of maintenance. The doners were stained. There were no covers on the doners other than a top sheet to cover the bedding on top and a sheets under. I found this really weird. When I looked in the closest I found that there was another doner that was stained as well. Not appealing.

I think there is a lot damage to the furniture which is possibly making the rooms look like they need work than what is required. I did have issues with the ventilation in the rooms. There is only a small window in each room and during summer was very hot, even with the air con on.

I definitely would not encourage people to stay. It might be cheap but it is noisy and not very clean. I am sure there are other places of value in Wollongong that are worth looking at.

I have stayed at Quest previously because of the great location. Close to shopping mall, beaches, mother-in-law! Location is the only reason we keep coming back. The apartments are clean, but there were chipped cups in the cupboards, no lid on the bin in the kitchen, the tap in the bathroom was dripping and the vanity unit in the ensuite had one glass panel missing. Admittedly, the staff advised that due to the holiday period maintenance staff were unavailable??? Also there is no room service on Sundays or public holidays. Will we stay again? Probably not.

Room Tip: The lift is very noisy, do not accept an 01 or 06 apartment.

The good points are : great location one block off the main shopping mall on Crown Street, 1 block off Corrimal St. restaurant strip, a few minutes to the beaches and harbor walking, nicely appointed apartments, great staff, comfy beds, washer/drier in apartments + fully equipped kitchen, and cheap as chips parking on site at $12/night (Why other posters complain about the parking cost can only mean one thing.)

Down side: this is a cheaply built block with windows that leak wind and noise, it has the noisiest lift I have ever heard so the apartments '06 and '01 should be avoided at all cost.

I didn't sleep the second night as the noise from the lift was so loud and has a thumping beat like a washer spinning off center next to your bedroom. The shutters/ blinds/ curtains were fitted by amateurs and they don't block either light or noise. It is a noisy intersection and loud revelers will disturb you on the weekends due to the cheap windows.

The master room had 2 single beds with the ensuite while the second bedroom had the Queen bed. Not a good configuration for a couple with kids but no big deal.

They can fix the curtains/blinds but I doubt they can ever fix the windows or lift without considerable expense so figure that wont change. Just make sure you don't get an '06 or '01 apartment.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room that ends with 06 or 01 as these adjoin the lift shaft and will remind you of t...

Stayed at Quest apartments for 2 weeks and found it to be a good apartment experience. They provided a large sized apartment with views over win stadium and the hills of Wollongong. The location is great short 5 min walk to Crown street where they have a good range of cafes, restaurants and alike. Quest also provide dining cards so you can order from cafes and charge back to your room, I found this quite handy. Crust pizza will deliver to your room. If you want to cook they provide you with cutlery, pots, pans and oven facilities which I found were handy. Staff were excellent especially Tony. Secure car park and easy walk to the shopping centre in Wollongong. Overall, would recommend this for business travel to the Gong.

One night in Wollongong on way to Sydney. Very nice apartment with good facilities. Reported very slight problem to front desk (which was of no real concern) - 5 minutes later 54 complementary drinks delivered to us! Asked about how long to Sydney Airport - provided printed route an advice. Certainly went the extra mile. Only criticism was of the rollaway bed which was provided which was rock hard - easily the most uncomfortable nights sleep possible

Room Tip: Don't request a roll away bed

Large.2br unit. Hardly anyone here but they put us in a hot west facing unit. air con only in lounge. Bedrooms hot. Kitchen light bulb out. Can't turn bath cold tap on. Cost extra to park. Not really impressed. Stayed in better for a lot less

Center of the city and near to restaurants and cafes. Also closer to Wollongong beach. The room itself was neat and well maintained.Staff was friendly and helpful. However there was a mess-up in the billing and charged me 10 bucks extra but once they were made aware I was compensated with parking. Overall a good stay and will revisit next time...
