I was dropped off at the front door and ready to check in. The old lady on reception told me to wait and half way during her accommodation she asked me to leave and drive my car around the back and then come back in to check in. We did that and then proceeded to check in. I paid the $20 ($10 per night) for parking and didn't have a problem with that and received our room keys. I had booked for a 2 bedroom apartment and was given a room on the 7th floor. We went straight up to the room, only to find that once we opened the door the door stop was broken and in the middle of the room. The bed for the main bedroom was in the second room while the master room had two singles and an ensuite. Not good for a 3 year old. We looked at the ensuite to find that the shower tap was broken and on the bottom of the shower floor.
We went straight back down stairs and asked to advise the lady on reception. She proceeded to tell me that they can put whatever room configurations together that they wished. When I told her that there was maintenance issues with the room she almost seemed that she was challenging me and told me that it had not been reported. She proceeded to ring what she called the GM of the hotel and while I was standing there she spoke to him saying I was dissatisfied, didn't like the room and found it very unclean. Well, yes, I did find all that wrong with it.
On that we waited until she relocated us to another floor with another available room. This room was a little different. Bedding configuration was to what I had seen on their website and again, was still in need of maintenance. The doners were stained. There were no covers on the doners other than a top sheet to cover the bedding on top and a sheets under. I found this really weird. When I looked in the closest I found that there was another doner that was stained as well. Not appealing.
I think there is a lot damage to the furniture which is possibly making the rooms look like they need work than what is required. I did have issues with the ventilation in the rooms. There is only a small window in each room and during summer was very hot, even with the air con on.
I definitely would not encourage people to stay. It might be cheap but it is noisy and not very clean. I am sure there are other places of value in Wollongong that are worth looking at.
