Reviewed 13 April 2014

My fiancée and I stayed the 13 th of April 2014, we had a good view of the harbour from our room, walking distance to restaurants.

Check-in was ok, we were given a room that was occupied ( an honest mistake ) however, Lydia from housekeeping was kind enough to get us the key to our new room ( we were on the 3rd floor).

The room was ok too, VERY CLEAN, the beds are a let down though; but then again when your used to a Tempur, any bed other than...is a let down ;-).

Breakfast was BEAUTIFUL...perfect eggs!!!

Overall, when in Wollongong, book in this motel...good value for money indeed :-)

Room Tip: Room 308...good view Undercover parking on the side

My wife and I, along with a number of other couples, met for a 3 night stay at the Boat Harbour Motel, as we have for several years. The setting for the motel is superb, and we select rooms that overlook the Wollongong boat harbour, with mature Norfolk pine trees in the foreground. The rooms are of ample size, all with balconies. The beds are comfortable and a table, chairs and armchairs are provided. The motel is a short walk from Crown Street - the commercial and restaurant centre - in one direction, and from North Beach in the other direction. Unfortunately the motel is many years old, has had only minor refurbishments and is badly in need of major work. The air conditioning does not work effectively which is a significant weakness in the humid and warm climate. The bathrooms are also in need of a complete over-haul. Some bathrooms have new fittings but these render only a small improvement.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms overlooking the boat harbour, and on the top (third) floor.

Stayed two nights in February, good location within walking distance of a nice beach, and has car parking too. The restaurant was nice (we only had breakfast there not dinner), and the room was a good size. It did say on our booking that the room would have a microwave and it didn't. The bathroom was also a little outdated but to be fair when you go to these places you want a place to sleep not a place to spend the day in. Would stay here again if I return to Wollongong.

A clean, basic motel room which was easy to find and in a nice spot. Good for an overnighter. Walking distance to good beaches. Would stay again. Walking distance to plenty of food spots. Also you could walk to the Entertainment Centre and the rugby league oval next door

The signs are fairly prominent on the northern side of Wollongong and I was only looking for simple accomodation. Unbeknownst to me the Novotel is only 300m away and I should have stayed there (for cheaper). Upon arriving I'm greeted by the standard - oh we only have ocean view rooms available which are more expensive (140). Uhuh... Ofcourse you do.. 3 floors of rooms and I saw 2 cars in the car park and ran into one other guest.

The rooms are small and packed with beds and furniture. The bathroom is quite disgusting with mould and mildew apparent everywhere. The room is amazingly loud. The TV small.

Whilst I'm being harsh rating it 1 star, in today's day and age a motel needs to do more to attract and keep guests. Plan ahead and you'll find a cheaper room at a far better hotel.

Room Tip: Plan ahead and stay elsewhere.

Motel is in a lovely spot with great views, but needs a MAJOR upgrade. Carpet is old and needs a good clean or replacing. Bathrooms look like something from the 70's and need upgrading. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom and couldn't open the window very far as it opens out on to the open walk way. Restaurant food was great and views would be lovely during the day.

For what we paid, have stayed in nicer rooms.

Room Tip: Upstairs and beach view is great, but costs more.

I found the lady at reception very obliging & had a lovely nature. That is where it ends. The room was so very tiny with a double bed, single bed, table with two chairs and it was like an obstical course to try to get to the balcony or bathroom. I was book in for two weeks time but have cancelled. I had 7 hour trip next day but was unable to sleep due to party in restaurant that progressed out into the courtyard. This went on until around midnight. Problem was it was not even reasonably priced.......
