“Noisy and past it's prime!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2013

My wife and I stayed on a Friday night recently, and found that while clean, it was extremely noisy. Children and adults in close units were easily heard at 6am, when we had no need to be up and atem! What made it worse is that we were told we could not check out until after 8:30am on a Saturday morning. Seems that management likes it's sleep, but does not care too much about it's guests.

I stayed in a Family Room in January / February - I'd describe the room as possibly dirtier than any bargain basement motel I've ever seen. The Aircon unit was caked with years of built up scum, the shower was about the same. The beds were comfortable but the surrounds were all dirty and scummy - as if no one had wiped them down for a year or so.

The room itself was dated, 1970's carpet felt spongy and not recommended to walk on without shoes.

The staff were polite but irritated when we asked for clean towels and bed sheets after 4 days. Also the staff didn't know how the toilet roll dispenser worked, so were unwilling to give us toilet paper - so we bought our own at a supermarket.

Twice my things were moved around in the room, but no cleaning had taken place. Luckily no valuables were left in the room.

No hot water, no explanation except - "we don't know why, its a gas thing."

When asking for clean towels the explanation was "we are having trouble with out supplier, so please be patient and try and reuse the ones you have." Sure, but when a sign in the room says "if staying more than 1 night, leave towels on floor for collection daily" and a staff member says "Can you leave your towels on the table outside and we'll replace them soon" you can't reuse them.

There was no soap or shaving cream in a dispenser bolted to the wall, the staff lady that came to the room appeared to believe I had somehow 'stole' the soap, she mentioned it in an accusatory tone, even though I had a hand wash pump bottle and shaving gel cans.

They seemed like nice people, just incompetent and self righteous.

The pictures on the internet are so much better than the reality, I'd like to compliment the photographer and the touch up artist.

We stayed there during Easter Holidays. I think the money we paid for the family room was worth the value. We paid $135 for one night and got a room even better than one in Montville Village during Xmas break last year (for $220 a night). Tidy enough rooms with good appliances. Restaurant downstairs came in very handy when we wanted to have dinner with our two cranky toddlers in the peace and comfort of our own room. And the food was very nice. Would stay there again in the future.

I travel for work and stay in over 100 motels a year, Alexandras was a pleasant, clean and comfortable motel to stay at. Breakfast was delivered right on time, staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately had an issue with their wireless internet hotspot which was the only downside. I will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Alexandra's during the recent floods. During such difficult times the staff all went the extra mile to ensure we were well looked after. We did not have one bad encounter with every employee being helpful and friendly. Despite lack of supplies the hotel organised a $15 buffet which was both generous and delicious. It was clear that they were short staffed and was great to see them all chipping in the extra effort whilst still remaining friendly and polite. We would like to thank all the staff at Alexandra's and would absolutely recommend it.

After a week in the camper van our stay here was well needed. The reception staff are extremely friendly and helped us in every way, they couldn't have done anymore. The rooms were great, big bed, fridge, desk and tv and tea making facilities. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was plenty of hot water and fresh towels.
We also ate in the restaurant and again the staff couldn't have done anymore. The lady that served us was extremely friendly. The food was amazing. Cooked fresh and decent portions.
Loved our stay here and will call in again if we're ever passing.

Booked on wotif to ensure we had a room on New Years Eve and pretty poor vlalue to similarly priced accommodation in Port Douglas. Small dated rather gloomy room but clean enough. Described as 4 star on wotif but certainly did not match that rating
