We did a day trip to Bundaberg from Hervey Bay and dropped in to the Botanic Gardens to check out this museum.
Well laid out exhibition with full-sized replicas of the aircraft flown by this pioneer of flight. I learned about Bert Hinkler in school but obviously missed out on many (most) of the finer details. The link to the explosion of the Challenger space shuttle was both fascinating and extraordinary.
The relocated Hinkler house, Mon Repos - named after the local Bundaberg beach where Hinkler launched his early gliders - which was saved from demolition and dismantled in England, then rebuilt in the Botanic Gardens, is a bonus.
Take the time to sit and watch the various video presentations, they are worth checking out. And if you have the time take a leisurely wander through the gardens.
Recommended.

Very interesting and well done tribute to a great Australian pioneer. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the computers were down when we visited and so we missed some of the interactive stuff. Well worth the entry fee and a must see in Bundaberg

Went there on my own with 2 under 4s children and kids under 4 get free entry which was a pleasant surprise. They were very welcoming to children and accomodating to parents with prams. It is a small place packed with so many interesting stories and facts about Bert Hinkler and his planes. We spend around 90mins there although could have easily stayed more than 2 hours if you take your time to view every documentary and try every activity. It will be quite an expensive outing for family (adults $18 and children from 4 to 12 years old $10) if you have children above 4 years old and not interested in avaition. Suggest only bring children whom are interested as I saw many children visiting there just getting bored and left after a while. It wasnt boring for us at all as my son loves his planes. Must step on the plane for a photo, sit in there and visualize that flying sensation in those days. Magic.

Lots of displays, films and items of interest relating to Bert Hinkler. Very educational and a good tourist attraction. The Botanical Gardens are a nice tranquil place to visit whilst there.

So interesting the story of Bert Winkler and the museum is well laid out with enough info to read mixed with interactive displays. When we first entered, we expected to take maybe 20 mins but we were enthralled for about 90 mins,
