This is a copy of an E-Mail I sent to the Hotel management.
Hi, Here is our view of the Coal n Cattle in Moura and I have attached your customer forms.
We booked via the net for a Queen bed, private cabin with en-suite.
On arrival and after a 10 minute wait at reception I was given a key which I discovered was for a motel room .
I returned to reception( another 10 minutes) and explained and showed my booking and fully paid receipt for a cabin.
One young lad(sorry I work in the kitchen) and two ladies later I`m given a key for Cabin 60.
The cabin was a disgrace .
It STANK OF URINE, carpet and bathroom floor reeked, it was dusty, had bugs and beetles in the shower base,
a dirty used sock under the bed, thin threadbare tiny towels.
The furniture was old and well worn out and the Queen bed advertised was a creaking old metal frame double bed.
The air-con shuddered when cranking up or switching off, there was no wardrobe .
We had driven a thousand clicks that day so were too tired to complain --just lets get a cuppa and a bite to eat.
No kettle --to be seen -- back to reception (another 10minutes wait ) kettle promised within 15 minutes.
In the meantime while my partner was kettle hunting I find one in the Bathroom cupboard, yep that works!! also found an iron in same cupboard.
OK --clean off the dust, boil twice, empty and boil again , go to get the tea and milk no milk.
Back to reception given 2 small cartons .
The fridge had a mixture of chocolate bars and drinks (some of the cans had been placed in the freezer section and exploded).
No prices for these items in the room folder which itself had pages stuck together and had ads for the Christmas functions, this in the middle of January.
On the outside verandah table was an ashtray full of cigarette butts --this for a non smoking Cabin.
I am used to a bit of rough and ready service when away from the cities but this takes some beating.
If I had been paying $60bucks for a quick motel stopover I would still have been put off by the stink of P--s
but to pay close to $160 plus dinner and drinks was very rude.
Not impressed at all, but then do you care when you are in the middle of mining country?
The price included breakfast which was self serve hot bain marie and cereals-- just as well as we never saw any staff for the hour we were there.
There is a Motel and a Caravan Park in Moura, do yourself a favour and try them before
attempting to stay at this pub. Terrible
