Tiki Village's central location on Cavill Avenue has both advantages and disadvantages. The main disadvantage is the traffic noise - not just cars and buses, but emergency vehicle sirens multiple times a day. Also, the construction of the new light rail is only a couple of hundred metres away and is also noisy at times, but will be wonderful when completed in 2014. The advantages are that you are very close to shops, including eateries and only about 500 metres from the beach.

The unit, though a bit old, has been refurbished and was wonderfully clean, reasonably spacious and well equipped, though a bit mean with toiletries... one small cake of soap is the extent of it. Bed is comfortable, unit is air conditioned, pool clean and warm. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Our main gripe was the indemnity they insisted we sign before we could have the key. it says, among other things, "that the resort, its employees and agents are not liable for any injury or damage resulting from any cause whatsoever including defect or negligence". This seems quite unreasonable, but they were adamant it had to be signed.

We enjoyed our stay, especially the view over the river and the convenient location, close to transport and shops.

Room Tip: The higher the better. Higher floors give a better view and it should be less noisy higher up.

We used a timeshare to stay here and after many many years it seems that old Tiki villages is exactly that! Old! They rooms have finally ha their furniture upgraded but a lot still needs to be done, not to mention that there is really no sound proofing and we had I deal with road works ALL night for most of our stay which we only found out due to a small notice in the lift. Lyn at reception was far from helpful, telling us that we don't get linen changed at all while we were there (for 2 weeks) as I found this very unusual I finally found someone else on reception and was told that there is indeed that house keeping do attend the room for stays of 2 weeks. I found that one receptionist very unapproachable which is a shame as we have been tiki village timeshare residents since I was a toddler.

Located directly on the river edge and 8 minutes walk to Surfers Paradise beach / sea front. Very good views from the rooms out over the water.

Apartments are clean and well maintained.

Timeshare type accommodation so don't expect your towels / bed linen changed if staying for less than a week. Apartment facilities are good quality with a well equipped kitchen, digital tv and vcr. If you like to cater for yourself you should have no complaints here, which is fine as their is no restaurant facilities in the building. However, their are a wide range of places to eat within short walking distance.

Secure parking is at basement level with lifts to all floors.

Room Tip: Don't use the resident Wifi as rates are exorbitant. Walk to Starbucks ( 5 minutes ) and get 30 minutes free Wifi for each beverage purchased. All rooms face the away from the adjacent main road but their is some traffic noise. Avoid room numbers on any floor ending in 01 or 02 as these are adjacent to the allocated balcony smoking zones. ( All rooms are non smoking )

This is our 2nd stay at Tiki Village which is in the portfolio of our timeshare membership. The building is obviously old but the apartments are decent and relatively well maintained. Front desk staff are generally helpful to our queries and secured parking is available onsite. Within the apartment, there was a nice bath and a fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher. We had to pay extra for the baby crib and had to set it up ourselves. There is a laundry room available within the apartment, with several washing machines and dryer (chargeable as well) as well as a games room, small swimming pool with a slide. The selling point of the resort is definitely the location. On one side, its a short walk to surfers (5 to 10 mins, depending on how fast you walk), opposite a Woolies and pharmacy for essentials and plenty of food options. There is a bit of roadworks going on about one street away but you can't tell from within the resort. On the other side, its the river and a small playground. We enjoyed a short river cruise (which you can book in front of the resort) with our kids. While there are new malls sprouting up, I get the general feeling that Gold Coast isn't doing too well economically wise coz there are quite a fair bit of closed shops (DFS is one of them - or did it relocate? I'm not sure).

Room Tip: not sure if you can choose room since we didn't

We arrived mid afternoon put in room 209 road noise horrendous windows rattled at times noise continues all night when I complained in the morning the lady at reception said nobody else has complained and said you must be a light sleeper which I am not

The lady told me to contact whoever I booked the room with I told her it was Classic Holidays she said she had nothing to do with them although she had a Classic Holidays blouse on bit strange
A lady phoned me from CH did no disagree with me regarding the noise and moved us to one room for 2nights and another for 7 nights which was much better
On speaking to other people staying some use ear plugs but most agreed it was noisy

Toilet in room is white / wash hand basin and spa bath in room dark beige very dated and does not give a good impression
Positioned well in the gold coast spa on roof top and swimming pool good but no balcony unlike surrounding apartments
My daughter is a Classic Holidays member she sent an email complaining about the whole matter never received a reply even to acknowledge her e mail

Room Tip: Check with trip advisor first go for an apartment with double glazing
