It was our first trip to Gold Coast - in fact it was our first trip as a family with young kids going overseas....and this time it was even with our extended family!!!

We arrived fairly early in the morning - sometime before 10am and there was a slight queue at the small reception that was surprisingly manned by only one person. But this one person, Lynn - was SUPER! She managed the queue well and even in the hectic situation she managed to calmly explain to us the facilities of the hotel etc...a great beginning.

Another plus point was that as we were travelling in a party of 3 families, our request for the 3 rooms to be on the same floor was met - although understandably at that hour we only had one room ready for check-in which we did not mind to wait for the other two. Because the room turned out to be SO HUGE!!! Fully equipped with a sufficient kitchenette, (Microwave oven, fridge, stove, pots, pans, plates, cutleries etc included!) a large living room and a huge jacuzzi....and the view we had - was so magnificent!

Yes, we did feel the building an its interior and furnishings were a bit old, but it felt cosy and just like feeling at home - though our home does not have its own Jacuzzi! (Jacuzzi a bit too noisy and it did scare my kids)

Location wise - very convenient and Belinda and most of the staff were ever willing to help out with suggestions on things to do and how to get there....and their advice were all spot on! Its also a stroll away from the main surfers paradise area....so it was cool.
And there were plenty of convenient stores, supermarkets (Woolworths etc) to do your holiday groceries - we cooked for almost every night we were there....it was fun!

Facility wise - it had a convenient coin operated laundry room which we did use (stayed here for a week!) and the price was very reasonable for both wash and drying. There's also a small playground behind the hotel with a nice view of the waterway/river...

Did not use the pool though as the weather was quite cold when we were there....anyways why need pool when there's the glorious surfers paradise beach!!

I would highly recommend this hotel for families as it is comfortable and does not feel cramped like the common 5 star hotels.

Will definitely return!!!!

Second time staying her and this time had one of the refurbished rooms. The signs for setting fire alarms off did not stop us from cooking, would need to be careless to set off.
Had no problems with noise over the week there with traffic as did die down fridays, saturdays - what would you expect on main route in surfers, up on 6th floor.

We would stay again

Let me start by saying that I booked this apartment because it had a great kitchen, spa bath, a slippery dip into the pool and central location. When we arrived after a 8hr journey in the car (Two kids under 7) we were greeted at the desk and told our room was not available as yet. In fact the room was trashed after 'Big Day Out' tenants had left it a mess. We were then forced to make a decision to go shopping for some groceries for our 4 night stay. Staff rang us when the room was available and when we arrived and finally got to our room the cleaner was still in there mopping the floors.
At first glance the apartment was large, Made to feel bigger because of the mirrors, our home away from home but wouldn't you guess it our room was on the first floor, at the front and right on the road. NOISE was SHOCKING!!. I thought it would stop as the night went on but no way. That road had hoons all night long with their huge exhaust sound echoing through the room, not to mention the sirens.
I was worried about the signs in the kitchen (as already mentioned in past reviews) and ensured that I created no smoke when cooking in the kitchen.
The sofabed needs a new mattress on it as you can feel every bar through the bed. Noted when watching TV with the kids.
The pool is great but some guests were really rude and clearly not following the signage not to jump from the waterfall and not watching their own younger children who continued to put other pool users at risk of harm.
This 'Village' is central to Surfers but I would not stay again and will not advise friends or family to stay either. GIVE IT A MISS!

Stayed for four nights. Was on the top floor with a view of the highway/towards Q1 from the bedroom so there is a little street noise, nothing too much. Room was very clean and modern and surprisingly spacious. Air conditioning is available if it gets too warm. Pool was heated and a nice depth at the deep end (2.5m). No noise from other guests rooms during the stay.

Walking distance to public transport. major supermarkets and clubs and bar.

Be careful when cooking though as there is a rather hefty fine if you do set off the smoke detectors.

Definitely on my list of places to stay again in Surfers.

Just got back form a wonderful stay at Tiki resort and wanted to let people know.
I was a little scared when reading the previous reviews, but am pleased to say we had a fantastic time. The hotel is in a prime location, couldn't ask for better really. Our room had a beautiful view over the Nerang River and the pool area. The pool area was fantastic, we spent a few days relaxing by the pool. The rooms are comfortable, we had a refurbished one- oh and I mustn't forget to mention the HUGE spa in our room- was great. The staff were great, very helpful, especially the tour desk staff.
We had a wonderful stay and are planning our next trip back there.

We stayed here for a week for our honeymoon. The rooms had been promoted as 'refurbished' but they are dated and the layout reminded me of staying on a ship. We were too scared to cook in the room because of the WARNING signs everywhere about the smoke alarms and the cost we would incur if we did set one off.

My main disappointment was the harrassment we recieved from the Time share salespeople. We made it clear we were on our honeymoon and the night we arrived we got a knock on our door from a salesman telling us - not asking - they had time slots available the next day to talk about their timeshare. This was just before 8pm at night. We politely declined the offer only to be bothered the next day by someone else offering the same thing. I went to reception and told them we were on our honeymoon and we wanted to be left alone - but no! Another pushy salesman turned up knocking on our door.
It was such a shame to have the intrusion to our privacy as we loved the location and the view over the river.

We stayed at the Tiki International Gold Coast for 2 nights in May 09 in a one bedroom apartment.

Price:

We paid about $120 per night, the room was no longer offered on any websites, but we managed to call up and get a room booked.

Breakfast/Dining/Bar:

There was a good sized kitchen in the apartment, with quite a few utensils, we did not cook in though. At reception we noticed they have dinner/movie nights but it was not suitable for us.

Location:

The location was just off Cavil Avenue, a lot of restaurants were close enough to walk to, and there was a shopping centre with a supermarket close by.

Noise, etc:

We did not have a problem with noise as we were quite high up.

Other Travellers:

We didn't actually run into any other travellers

Rooms:

I really liked the size and affordability of these rooms, there was a separate bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen area. There was a huge spa- though it didn't really work that well, but it was a novelty. The shower was in the spa bath, which was quite odd, but didn't really effect us.

View:

We had gorgeous views onto a lake or something.

Check In / Out:

Check in and out where no hassle, the lady indicated that most people stay for quite a while.

Cabs/Parking:

We did not use cabs as we had a hire car. Each day we had to go to reception to get the new car park code to get in to the car park again, there were no designated parks, so it was first in first serve but there are plenty of parks. On the exit they placed the lock on the right side of the car park so you have to cross traffic to get out which was odd- we didn't run into anyone in the car park anyway.
The Saturday night when we went to broadbeach, we could not find a cab to take us back (they were that busy) luckily we found a Hire Care guy that was happy to take us (for a very high price).

Security:

To get into the building at night we have to swipe our key.

Overall Experience:

I would definitely stay here again, for the location and price.
