Our meals were delicious and the desserts amazing. The service was also very good. It was a stormy wet week night so not many people at all in the restaurant which meant the atmosphere was a little lacking, but I'm sure with more activity that would probably be different.

This restaurant is right at my back door in cosmopolitan Glenelg and yet I've never eaten here before. Why!!??? Honestly my husband and I had the most wonderful meal here tonight. The food was nothing short of spectacular, the service was warm and attentive but unpretentious and friendly. The atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxed enough for a romantic dinner.
The wine list is not extensive but it does provide excellent options; there's something for every palate and its generous in terms of wines by the glass.
Firstly the waiter bought out two warm freshly baked rolls served with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I don't usually eat the bread rolls but they looked amazing and tasted even better.
We chose the Totino Pinot Grigio from the Adelaide Hills as our wine.
For entree I chose the 'special' seafood trio; two fresh oysters in a tiny martini glass on a bed of crispy seaweed, with pickled ginger and salmon roe, a morton bay bug with tarragon butter and a scallop with a spicy sauce. For $23 I was ecstatic!
My partner chose the oysters with a lime, chilli and sweet shallot with salmon roe. Perfect!
For mains I chose the pan roasted salmon with crispy skin, morton bay bug and asparagus. The salmon was pink and moist, the skin very crispy and salty and to be honest words cannot describe the perfection of this dish!
My partner chose a porterhouse steak cooked medium rare with a bernaise sauce and served with a leek and mushroom tart and green beans. The dish was well beyond expectations and the meat was divine. Again, cheap at $33. A side dish of green beans with pancetta and almonds was divine. Nothing was left on the plates.
We don't normally have dessert but could not resist a white chocolate brulee with raspberry and peach sorbet and raspberry jelly. Once again, words cannot possibly not describe how delightful this dish was. A Peter Lehmann's botrytis accompanied our dessert.
The whole night the staff bent over backwards to ensure we had our courses timed to our liking and as the piece de resistance, the restaurant accepts the Entertainment card for 25% off the total bill. For us this meant the meal came to $145 which included 1 bottle of good quality wine, two brilliant entrees, two brilliant mains, one spectacular dessert and two delicious dessert wines.
My husband and I could not have left happier. We will definitely be back and soon!

Second time around, and not the last, but the service will NEED to be improved for the restaurant to complement the fantastic food on offer. Reviewed the restaurant back in August 2011 and thought we'd try it again given that our first experience was relatively good. Arriving right on 7.00pm (our scheduled reservation), we asked if it would be ok to sit in the little bar outside and have a drink before we were shown to our table - staff advised that this was not a problem - and we sat there for probably a good 25 minutes before we advised the staff that we were ready. Immediately shown to our table, given menus and asked if we'd like to order a drink. We knew which wine we wanted and this was provided very quickly and with a friendly smile. After being advised that 'so and so' would be with us in a few minutes to take our order, we reviewed the menu, made our selection, closed the menu and proceeded to wait some 25 minutes before someone actually managed to walk their way up to where we were sitting. The interesting thing to note is that there were staff heading towards our group of tables (towards the end of the restaurant) regularly, but they could never just quite make it up far enough to see that we were still waiting (blinkers on!). The restaurant was full, but there were plenty of staff working, so no excuses there. Mind you, the service we received was probably better than the couple at the table right at the end - they didn't seem to get ANY! Once again, the manager saved the day and as soon as she realised that we still had menus sitting in front of us, apologised profusely and took our order. This lady is a definite asset to the hotel, but there are some staff training issues that need to be addressed - this restaurant could be rated as one of the best in Adelaide if it could only get its act together on service. Once we managed to get our order in, the service improved significantly and resulted in an enjoyable evening. Now, to the food. A definite improvement on the meal we had last time (not that the last one was terrible by any means). This time we decided to try the tempura oysters and the pork belly with an apple remoulade & sorbet for entree. Both of these dishes were excellent and, once again, we commented that if this was the standard of food to come, we were going to be very impressed. The inclusion of the sorbet on the pork was brilliant and took the dish to the next level. The only downside we would say is that the pork didn't have a 'crackle' on the top, but the taste was just sensational, so this was forgiven. For main we decided on the salmon (two ways), fillet and cured, and the porterhouse steak (served medium rare). Again, we were both not disappointed. Both dishes were excellent (and a huge improved on the oversalted salmon and tough steak of last time). Have to say that we really did enjoy the experience and, other than the lack of service in the initial hour, would rate this restaurant very highly. Will definitely visit again - let's see if third time lucky!
