La Mancha Holiday Suites
Reviewed 2 April 2013

We stayed at La Mancha in Mach and have been recommending it to everyone ever since! We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment (could really be 3 with the sunroom off the main bedroom) on the second floor. Brilliant views and extremely central to the esplanade in Glenelg. Highly recommended.

Stayed at La Mancha for one week in a one bedroom apartment on the first floor with a side ocean view and really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was a good size and the bedroom and bathroom were also of a good size. Everything was spotless clean and well maintained. Found the bed very comfortable also there was a good supply of utensils in the apartment. We loved being right opposite the beautiful esplanade and beautiful beach and it is great to take a lovely stroll all along the front. It was nice sitting out on the balcony at night watching some beautiful sunsets. The location was great only a few minutes walk to a real good range of shops and restaurants and some vey nice cafes. There was a very good Coles quite close by and it was great being able to take the tram from Glenelg in to the city of Adelaide. Would definitely stay there again and it was very quite in the building when we stayed and very relaxing

My parents stayed in apartment 17 which is on the ground floor. They were very impressed with the size and cleanliness of the apartment and any maintenance issues were dealt with quickly. The only negative comment being in that particular apartment was the slamming of the front door onto the esplanade which was right next to their apartment.

I stayed here in 2 different rooms during Rescue 2012 in November.
The building is quaint, clean and basic. Just what I needed during my stay in Australia. The time actually spent in the room was cooking and sleeping. The first room I stayed in had amazing picture windows looking out onto the beach which made for some good sunset pictures. Just outside there are BBQ's free for the public that are cleaned nightly. Location to the train is great and McDonald's (free, but slow wifi available). Visit the Glenelg Surf Lifesaving club and get the Chicken Schnitzel!

La Mancha Holiday units are located in a tiny street called St Johns Row just up from the opulent Stamford Plaza Hotel. A week's stay in peak holiday time at la Mancha will cost you about $AUS1000. There are only 8 car parks for over 24 units, so at times there was a problem with car parking. La Mancha have a reciprocal parking agreement with the Stamford hotel and they will reimburse your parking fee, but it was full everytime we tried, as it was during Xmas/new year. The units in themselves were clean and stocked with the basic necessities and linen was changed 3 times. Fridge, stove, iron, toaster, microwave and aircon worked well. Glenelg beach was just across the walk way with bbq facilities and the jetty nearby. Shops, a Coles supermarket and boutiques were a short walk away. Laundry was on site and a wash cost 2x$1 coins with washing powder supplied. The clothes airer in apartment was handy for clothes if you didn't want to use the dryer which cost $AUS1. We watched the New Year's Eve fireworks over Glenelg beach from our balcony. The stairs are a steep climb if you are on the first floor, which would be unsuitable for the elderly or disabled. Be aware that some shops and major supermarkets are closed on Xmas Day, Dec 26th and New Years Day. You can buy basics like bread, butter, milk, jam, water etc in the convenience stores in the main street.

Room Tip: Elderly people need to ask for a room on the ground floor.

This property was our home for a week and it is supplied with everything you will need to have a great week (linen, dishes, pots&pans, towels, etc.). There is a Coles about a 5-10 min walk away and therefore preparing meals was quite easy. You are only about 100m from a tram station that takes you right into Adelaide. The only BIG downer is there is no Wifi access (free or paid), which made it extremely diffcult to communicate with home. Overall it was a great location and if you can get an Oceanview, well that's the cherry on the cake.

Room Tip: If you have a smart phone or tablet, get a sim card (about 1$) from the local telephone provider (Vo...

We stayed for 7 nights. The location is wonderful. The rooms are clean but do not expect anything too fancy on this budget. I think a DVD player would be a good addition. Beware that there is no elevator at this property. It can be a bit of a climb to the top floor but once there the view is superb. We would recommend this for a budget getaway.

Room Tip: Front rooms on ground floor can be a little noisy but great outlook. If you don't mind the stair...
