Nice little historical museum of both the seaside and of the foundation of South Australia as a British colony. Some interesting memorabilia, including details of early 20th century bathing rules (which forbade topless bathing, even amongst men!). Nice detail of the founding of the colony and the City of Adelaide. Certainly worth a browse, and helped by lovely local volunteers.

The place shows the history of the area and the history of swim wear and the beach life going back many years , it free to enter but a contribution never goes a miss. the position is in its self worth going to at the end of the Glenelg tram. The exhibits are also well worth seeing in the vry picturesque seaside town.

This is one of the best historical displays we`ve seen - starting with the mayoral chairs from the 19th century. There are very good videos telling the history of South Australia which is unique in settlement by free people - not a convict colony. You can see the Victorian origins of Glenelg which is still old-time in parts. The story of the formation of the State and it`s capital city is very well told. There`s something here for folk of all ages, including a charming reviews of the beachwear fashions down the years. It`s free, but it would be worth it if admission were charged.
