“The hanging gardens of Gambier”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

We knew of Mt Gambier for its famous lakes and not much else. So we ventured to the Umpherston sinkhole in complete ignorance. Needless to say we were delighted by what we found. it was during summer and it was delightfully cool in the heart of the hole ... and surrounded by all that lush greenery of the lawns, ferns, hydrangeas and the most of all the spectacular 'hanging gardens' of the sinkhole walls. A really interesting history, too.

After viewing the Blue lake we attended the Sinkhole and were impressed with the history and scenery surrounding the formation of this attraction. Worth seeing.

“Brilliant”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

The kids loved this spot - it would be better in summer with some warm weather & a picnic but the kids loved the possums that came out later in the afternoon when it was getting darker
