We stayed for two nights over the weekend and had a great experience.

The room was very spacious with plenty of room for bags, a large wardrobe, desk and king bed. The room also featured a kitchenette, which would be handy if we had spent more time in the hotel.

The city is small enough that you can get around by foot quite easily, although a car is handy and the hotel has free parking.

We found some lovely cafés in the area so can't review the restaurant, but it looked cozy.

Will keep it in mind for our next trip to Launceston.

Hotel Charles offers a rare combination - it is both family friendly and very sophisticated. The rooms are set up to be inter-connecting and work very well for families or friends travelling together. No bath but the bathrooms are huge.

The staff are particularly friendly. Jim in the restaurant was delightful with our 'high maintenance' child. Speaking of the restaurant, the continental brekkie is good value as it includes coffee and has plenty of choice.

Our only criticism is that the beds are rather hard. But overall this is an awesome hotel and we would stay again.

Finally found Hotel Charles, we thought it was closer to CBD but it is actually only a 10-15 downhill walk. Coming back is a climb though. Got upgraded to a lovely room, my sort of accomodation. Too cold to move from the lovely gas/fake fire so did dinner in the restaurant. Best scallops l've ever had and the steak was pretty close too. Wanted to stay an extra night but they were booked out, bugger!

This hotel was great.
We checked in quite late as we had been caught in the snow from Hobart.
The staff were fantastic. They knew our situation and made sure we were in our rooms as quickly as possible.
Both the rooms we had were a wonderful temperature as the staff had pre-heated them. It was such a nice welcome to our rooms.
Because it was 11.30pm by the time we were ready to order dinner the menu was quite limited.
I ended up with a toasted sandwich that was served with crispy chips (the cold packet kind). The sandwich was fine but the chips I could do without.
The other disappointing fact was that there were no drinks to choose from. You had to take something from the mini-bar.
There were some humming noises throughout the night from something in the walls/ceiling but it was drowned out by the split system in the room. Neither were too loud though.
We checked out late the next day and the staff were extremely accommodating.
You do need to ensure that you have a car when staying at this hotel as you aren't city centre by any means.
Free car parking is provided buts it's first I'm best dresses for locations.
All in all it's a nice hotel, but with my family I'd look closer to where I planned to spend my time.

Hotel Charles was precisely what I expected. Clean, professional service and a very comfortable bed. Free wifi was an excellent bonus. I came to have a night to myself and get a bit of work done. It was ideal for that! I was pleased with every aspect and would definitely stay again. I did not use the bar or restaurant, but the lounge looked very nice and the menu was unique and people seemed pleased with it.

Not in town centre but close, on a hilltop next to the hospital. Love the sleek modern decor, gas fire in the lobby. Level 3-spacious room overlooking garden opposite the hospital. The room on level 1 overlooked the car park and the wi-fi in this room was rather temperamental. The room air conditioning works well. Good hotel restaurant, free wifi and car parking.
